EXCLUSIVE: NBC’s SVP Drama Jada Miranda is leaving the network after two years. Some of the series whose development she oversaw include The Playboy Club, Grimm and The Firm. Sources say she left on her own accord and plans to pursue other creative opportunities in the business. Before joining the ranks at NBC in 2010, Miranda was an HBO-based producer and served as executive producer of the network’s comedy series How To Make It In America. Miranda’s departure comes two months after the change at the helm of NBC’s drama department, with Pearlena Igbokwe replacing Laura Lancaster as EVP Drama Development.
Miranda spent eight years at HBO, joining the pay cable network in 2003 as a programming executive. She oversaw the pilot for Entourage and spearheaded HBO’s acquisition and co-production of the Ricky Gervais comedy Extras before segueing into a producing deal with the pat cabler.

Jada is one of the best and brightest. Wherever she ends up should consider themselves very lucky.
After two such high profile duds I’m surprised this didn’t happen sooner.
And at NBC it’s just beginning. Wait until all new series are launched…
NBC is a toxic dump where gifted executives go to waste their time and talents. If only they could fire their network culture, then they might have a chance at starting over so they can actually begin performing like a competent major network.
Good luck to Jada, hopefully she returns to premium television where she shines the brightest!
Jada is a tremendous exec and was wise to get out of there. Greenblat has made some very poor recent hiring and programming choices with reprucussions to follow.
Wishing Jada the best. Truly one of the good ones. Smart, respectful of the creative process, a pleasure to work with
Jada, this is a wise move!!!!
Two hours before the Titanic set sail, a woman named Jane Leslie Withnall decided she didn’t want to travel and departed the ill-fated ship.
Funny how history repeats itself.
Great, patient exec with good instincts. She never had a chance given the existing NBC development slate she had to work with…
