EXCLUSIVE: Olivia Munn has been tapped for a guest-starring arc on the Fox comedy series New Girl. She will play Angie, Nick’s (Jake Johnson) new love interest who is sexy, earthy, charming and can hold her own with the group. Munn, repped by CAA and Mosaic, will film her episodes before production starts on Season 2 of HBO’s Newsroom, on which she co-stars. She was recently seen in Magic Mike and Babymakers.

Suprised. You means she’s not exclusively signed to HBO?
guest star…she can do three per year. standard series regular agreement
Considering how well she came off (albeit facing low expectations to begin with) on The Newsroom, this is an odd choice and feels a little like slumming–New Girl is slowly but unquestionably running out of gas/viewers and the whole of Fox’s Tuesday Night could go down with it. Munn is a much better fit for dramedy than comedy.
And now the show has officially been removed from my DVR.
I liked her on The Newsroom, so hopefully she brings the same spark and charisma to New Girl as well. Her arc sounds interesting. Can’t wait to watch it!
I couldn’t take my eyes off her in MIKE; tremendous and ballsy on THE NEWSROOM … she’s a star!
I wouldn’t go that far. She is good on Newsroom but let’s be honest Aaron Sorkin is the writer and that will make anyone look good.
Olivia Munn… the Kim Kardashian of the acting world.
Olivia received a lot of attitude on the internet when her NEWSROOM casting was announced; glad she proved to be the best thing about the show’s first season. I feel like she’d fit more naturally doing a brief guest stint on a show like PARENTHOOD, but this should be fun. She’ll do good against Zooey’s shtick.
For whatever reason, she seems like she’s out of breath every time she speaks. So, knock that off.
