OWN had a good weekend and it wasn’t all thanks to Oprah Winfrey. The two-night series premiere of Iyanla: Fix My Life was OWN’s top debut since the network went on air in January 2011. The Season 2 premiere of Welcome To Sweetie Pie’s on Saturday at 9 PM brought that reality show a series high. Meanwhile, the Winfrey-starring shows Super Soul Sunday and Oprah’s Next Chapter also saw big gains during the weekend.
Featuring life coach Iyanla Vanzant, Fix My Life’s 10 PM Saturday show earned a 1.18 rating in the women 25-54 demo and 1.1 million total viewers. That was second in the demo for its time period among all ad-supported cable networks behind ABC Family’s airing of The Blind Side. Sunday’s broadcast of Fix My Life got a 1.73 in the demo and pulled in 1.6 million total viewers, the third-highest-rated show of the night in the time slot on ad-supported cable networks and the top-rated show among black viewers among women 25-54 and women 18-49. Fix My Life will regularly air Saturdays at 10 PM after Welcome To Sweetie Pie‘s, whose Saturday return earned a 0.88 rating in the demo and 932,000 total viewers, up 450% and 521%, respectively, compared with last year’s series debut.

The network’s Super Soul Sunday was also up this past week. The 11 AM morning show featuring Oprah interviews got a 0.31 among women 25-54, its highest rating to date and a 158% gain over its season average. Airing before Fix My Life on Sunday, Oprah’s Next Chapter’s interview with singer Usher got a 1.72 demo rating and 1.5 million viewers, up 1333% in the demo and 827% among total viewers from a year ago.

Well, there you have it…profits should be right around the corner.
Congrats to Oprah! It’s been a long road for OWN but its finally coming around.
Thank you! This show is excellent. Opens your heart and mind.
This show is truly empowering and inspiring. Vanzant, someone who has been broken, serves as an example of someone who has not only coped and overcame significant trauma, but serves as God’s vessel to help others cope, overcome, and let go of their hurt, pain, shame, resentment, jealousy, greed, etc. This show inspires me to be a “better me.”
Once again Iyanla did a good a job with DMX. The only thing she should have not done was not to loose her cool at the end. Otherwise DMX interview will help many people because like him we all have our own demons. For some people demons are drugs, food, control issues, low self esteem, broken relationships…thanks to Iyanla, OWN, but especially Simmons family. God used all them to help millions people. I will put Simmons family in my bible. I cried so much and the interview inspired me. God thank u for reminding me to turn on my TV
