Inspired by the NFL referees lockout, The Daily Show correspondents went on strike last night. Actors were brought on board to take the place of seasoned regulars like John Oliver. Unlike the now-resolved NFL labor dispute, the replacements were — at least in the eyes of Jon Stewart — better than the regulars and took the job full time … until they learned what the pay was.

Patrick Stewart, thy presence is epic!
Why isn’t there a Star Trek show on TV. Even the terrible versions that came after The Next Generation brought in high ratings. Abrams who’s in charge of the Trek movies does great TV. It seems to me there would be a great opening for a Star Trek show.
REMINDER OF TV HISTORY: Star Trek The Next Generation was NUMBER ONE in the ratings in it’s final season. In other words there’s lots of money to be made that is not being tapped. If I were an agent or producer I’d be on it like butter on bread…
This was very funny. Patrick Stewart is always exceptional.
Funny, but it was not a strike, it was a lockout. The NFL refs were ready and willing to stay on the job while negotiating their very reasonable demands. Strike vs lockout: an important distinction, and a shame that the usually liberal Daily Show would foster the anti-union propaganda of the Goodell and the greedy NFL owners.
I’m looking forward to Mandy Patinkin as Aasif Mandvi.
I love how everyone drinks the Kool aide that anything Jon Stewart does is funny. I’m personally partial to my boss, Jay Leno, and I’d say that even if I didn’t work for him. Stewart and Colbert are pretenders, Jay’s the real deal.
No! You would be on it like “phasers on stun”!
