CBS’ Made In Jersey logged the lowest-rated new series premiere so far this fall among adults 18-49. The legal drama opened with a 1.1/4 at 9 PM last night. It tied the final season premiere of Fox’s Fringe (1.1/4) as the lowest-rated originals on Friday. Made In Jersey was down 39% from last fall’s season premiere of CSI: NY in the time slot and down 21% from the series debut of the now-defunct A Gifted Man in the 8 PM hour. Made In Jersey also was down from its lead-in, CSI: NY (1.3/5), which posted its lowest-premiere ever, down 28% from its season debut last September in the 9 PM berth. Anchor Blue Bloods (1.5/5) also had its lowest-rated premiere ever, down 25% from last year. Overall, CBS won premiere Friday in viewers and adults 18-49 for a sixth straight year. But it was the only major network with all-originals last night, and in 18-49 it finished tied for No.1 with ABC, which aired a Last Resort repeat. In total viewers, CBS was a cut above the competition, dominating every hour of primetime: CSI: NY (9 million), Made In Jersey (7.7 million) and Blue Bloods (11.1 million).
Fringe (1.1/4) was down 27% from its season premiere last fall, up 10% from its season finale in May. NBC’s Grimm made a seamless return to its Friday 9 PM slot after a month-long run on Monday. In its regular time period premiere, the drama drew a 1.6/5, up 7% from its most recent original on Monday. But vs. its series premiere on Friday last fall, it was down 24%. Dateline (1.3/4) was down 35% from last fall’s premiere. ABC’s Shark Tank (1.5/6) was down 6% from last week, while 20/20 (1.4/4) was flat.

Please. Someone declare a moratorium on all shows with a Jersey theme.
Why? Her accent seems so authentic in those wonderfully creative and charming promos they’re running. There’s nothing stereotypical about her at all.
As someone who actually lives in New Jersey, I don’t know anyone who speaks like the people on this show. My brothers and I were laughing hysterically every time one of her brothers spoke because he sounded like he was from Boston.
All these accents sound like they come from New York. We hate being confused for New Yorkers as much as we hate people living in our state yet having license plates on their vehicles from other states. And NY drivers in general.
Yay for Grimm! Definitely has a solid fanbase.
So virtually EVERYTHING was down. It’s time the rating system got fixed to include cable and other factors. Needs to provide a bigger picture. After all, advertisers do use more platforms than just the networks nowadays. It’s the second decade of the 21st Century for crissake!
Cable is included in the ratings system. There is no reason to believe that the Nielsens are inaccurate despite all the bellyaching when people’s favorite shows take a hit. (How do they know that, if the Nielsens were “accurate,” their favorite shows’ ratings wouldn’t be even lower?)
Ireland would disagree with you on that, I think.
Please stop with all things Jersey. If there must be a scripted show re: Jersey or a Jersey girl, it might be a good idea to NOT cast a woman from England as the one Made In New Jersey. Just an idea.
Born in and lived my whole life in NJ, and as a big mystery book junkie have loved the sub category of mysteries called ‘Jersey Mysteries’ so i know Jersey when i see it AND hear it and this aint Jersey. More like ‘Joisey’ that mocked up caricature of what people think Jersey is and who seem to have an interest in promoting the stereotype of the Garden State – thanks for nothing Jersey Shore!
Anyway, there is a good Jersey centric drama or ‘dramadey’ out there to be had. This is not it.
you needed an Italian American actress: you blew it!
Go Todd Milliner!!
Really enjoyed MIJersey. Lots of fun. Looking forward to next week!
I’m with Gus. Found Jersey sweet and charming. I’ll be back for sure!
Jersey…dreadful, simply dreadful. Trusting that coming week will bring better concepts and scripts and at a minimum acting (and accents LOL)
Janet Montgomery is the problem here. They needed to cast somebody who has actually spent time in Jersey (see…everyone on the Sopranos). This actress was annoying, shallow and did not serve the writing.
And Shark Tank remains the little show that could. Best, smartest reality show on the air and wins its time period every week now.
Shark Tank rocks!
So was the pitch for Made in Jersey Snookie meets The Good Wife? LOL The actress is hot, but don’t understand casting a Brit. You may as well go all in and cast one of the Jersey Shore people.
Agree with Gus, really enjoyed the show. Found it sweet, endearing and fun. I’ll be watching in the coming weeks.
How does unmittigated dross like Made in Jersey even get on the air? (Never mind, actually–I’m guessing the answer will be even more objectionable than the show.)
Wow. I don’t know what’s more embarrassing. How offensively stereotypical Made in Jersey was, How moribund Blue Bloods is not matter who they get to “fix” it, How CSI:NY continues to get worse every single year, or how many old people are still sitting at home on Friday with the channel stuck on CBS while they all drool into their pillows.
For those planning to come back for more Made In Jersey, I’d keep those plans tentative as it’s 1.1 will dwindle and the show will be cancelled.
The title alone will NOT attract viewers because when you hear it you think of Jersey Shore, Jerseylicious, RH of New Jersey, etc. and it sounds like a trashy show. I’m sure it’s not a trashy show but they’re not doing it any favors with the title and have already lost their chances at drawing in viewers.
I’m confused about Grimm. It’s one of the FEW shows that NBC has going for it/any buzz on and yet they relegate it to Friday nights where less people can see it and yet they insist on keeping Never Going To Be A Hit shows like Parenthood on a night when more people could see it.
They tried Grimm on Monday and it got exactly the same ratings.
Watched it once, won’t watch again. Derivative writing, don’t think the main character is much of an actress.
What, they couldn’t find a single Italian-American actress for Made in Jersey? Or even find one who’d actually spent time in the tri-state area? Terrible casting. I lasted less than five minutes into the show–the first two scenes were enough (and I am usually willing to be patient with pilots). Most interesting moment of those few minutes: seeing poor Stephanie March show up. “Oh look, Alex Cabot.” Yawn. Deleted from DVR.
MADE IN JERSEY looks like a re-imagining of the (rightfully) nixed DANNI LOWINSKI remake (about a trashy hair stylist turned lawyer, bimbo-type with family, friends and wardrobe to match. The good old boobs, legs and heart. Not to forget that girly SMILE.). It’s the Lowinski character put in a different environment… and surrounded by good actors who seem to belong in a totally different show – one that I would want to watch. There is so much wrong with it one has to wonder how it got greenlit in the first place.
If there is a God, this offensive dreck will be gone after 3 episodes tops. I sure as hell don’t want to cover it.
Every year we gets these comments about the mystery of the networks. It no mystery. It’s all politics, nepotism and dismissive bigotry inside the Hollywood bubble. These people not only o not watch TV, they are out of touch with the real world. Why else would they put on Walker, Vegas Ranger?
If you look at the people who are behind this show you will find that you’re… right? More right than you probably even know.
Made In Jersey will be another one of those shows that get the early heave ho from the lineup due to low ratings along with a few NBC shows about ready to say farewell. Glad the overrated Shark Tank fell in the ratings last night too.
First The Mob Doctor bombed then Last Resort had a disappointing start and now Made In Jersey has a hideous debut.
Poor Sony Pictures TV. Three broadcast dramas and three dreadful premieres. At this point they won’t have a drama on network TV come January.
I have they stick with it and keep ploughing away at it. You never know what’s going to work in this business.
There is a curse on Sony shows.
It’s because all Sony shows are made under AFTRA contracts.
I thought it was okay. I’d rather watch Janet Montgomery in Made in Jersey than Poppy Montgomery in Unforgettable. I get dizzy spells when I remember how much eye-rolling that show caused me.
You know things are bad when you are CBS and you only can only tie that stinkbomb “Fringe” in the ratings.
Made in Jersey will be cancelled after next week’s episode, if that. CSI-NY will be moved back to 9/8 p.m. in two weeks. CSI-NY and Blue Bloods will both increase their ratings once Made in Jersey is off the schedule…
I enjoyed CSI NY I was not able to see the other shows so can’t coment but I like CSI’s new time period.
