The Voice continues to post week-to-week rating increases. Last night, NBC’s singing competition (4.5/14 in adults 18-49 from 8-9 PM) shot up 15% from its fast national last Tuesday after also posting Week 2 gains with its Monday edition. New comedy Go On (3.3/9) held steady, down a tenth from its time-slot premiere last week. Fellow newbie The New Normal (2.2/6) dropped 12% and appears more vulnerable as NBC’s Tuesday lineup enjoyed its last outing with little competition to bag another Tuesday win among adults 18-49. (CBS edged it in total viewers with drama repeats.) Parenthood (1.8/5) slipped a tenth from its so-so season premiere last week.
The finale of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance (1.6/5) was up a tenth from last week but down 25% from its season finale last year, which aired in August. ABC’s two-hour 20/20 special Best In TV: The Greatest TV Shows Of Our Time drew a 1.6/4 from 9-11 PM.

New ‘Man Of Steel’ Television Spot #6

I’ve watched all 3 episodes of The New Normal so far. The writing is getting worse, the acting is getting better (great job in Episode 3 by Justin and Andrew). We need more of Georgia King, she is engaging to watch besides being the glue that binds both families. Less of NeNe, it was a relief not to see her in Episode 3. Ellen Barkin’s Nana needs to get good and drunk in front of David and Bryan and expose something more than being a grandmother at 37. And Shania was better as little Edie than a sex object, let her stay young, the sassy “older than her years” child is very yesterday!
Start getting ready for NBC to begin cancelling some of their new shows, once the heavyweights from the other networks return to airing originals.
Goon (I’m calling it that forever more) is growing on me while New Normal is growing on my nerves and as a gay guy I’m wanting that show to succeed.
The New Normal (AKA Modern Family lite) is painful to watch. They need to stop with the upclose shots of Andrew Rannells glassy eyes and pouty lips – it’s obvious someone behind the camera has a crush on that guy. Ellen Barkin is the only good thing on that show. Cancel it and give Ellen a bigger part on Modern Family as Phil Dumphy’s rival.
