EXCLUSIVE: Invasion creator Shaun Cassidy has teamed with Homeland executive producer Howard Gordon for a drama series that has received a put pilot commitment at Fox. Described as an adrenalized, dysfunctional family adventure series, the untitled project centers on two former CIA operatives — now married with teenagers — who are forced to face their past when their identities are exposed and they’re nearly killed. Now they’ll need to start over, under new cover, this time with their children in on the secret as they tackle cases, come together as a family, and elude those who would rather see them dead. Cassidy will write the script and executive produce with Gordon through his Teakwood Lane. 20th Century Fox TV, where Teakwood Lane is based, produces.
Last season, Cassidy’s Sony TV/Prospect Park-produced Western The Frontier went to pilot at NBC and was in serious contention, ultimately missing the cut to series. It has been a busy last two weeks for Gordon and Teakwood Lane, which made two premium script deals at NBC for a futuristic drama penned by John Friedman and Alex Cary-written legal drama Ritter and received a pilot order from TNT for Legends. The new project brings Gordon back to Fox, where he executive produced and ran long-running drama 24.

Why does every family have to be dysfunctional? It’s a cliche that doesn’t really add or do anything. Oh right they will come together as a family from all the adrenalized adventures they have then they won’t be dysfunctional any longer.
Because drama is only drama when there’s conflict. It’s script writing 101. No conflict = no scene work. One big happy family = boring.
we just drop words like that into studio/network pitches so the suits have something to chew on.
Howard Gordon is on FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jesse l Martin is recurring on smash, they should get him now, or fox should jump on this .
Gordon is slumming it.
This is a big deal for Cassidy.
I know have a gag reflex to seeing the letters “CIA” in pilot sales. This is absurd, how many of these CIA shows can the networks buy??
I fell asleep just reading the description.
Can we please find a network exec who buys original, smart ideas from solid writers – not tired ideas from has-been celebrities.
CLEARLY you’ve never seen American Gothic.
Uh… Cover Me, but with CIA parents?
Sounds a LOT like Cassidy’s Cover Me!
I wasn’t going to say it…
I was about to post the exact same thing. Have been meaning to check that show out, all the episodes are on Hulu.
I guess Hugh Fitzpatrick was a GREAT hire for Howard Gordon, they have sold 5 projects! Go Hugh and Howard!
Absolutely! No way Gordon or Cassidy would have even been able to get in a room without him.
How is that Shaun Cassidy???? OHMYGOD. What happened?????
What happened is highly unusual. Apparently, he is aging. Once he was a teenager and then the slow inexorable physiological downward slide…rumor is, it happens more than we think.
Not sure what’s more disturbing: you asking what happened, or that you type three words as one, in caps.
Cassidy loves dysfunctional famille (American Gothic, Invasion..) !
I love that guy.. Invasion was one of my personal favorite!
Go Shaun.
If you want this on the air Gordon better write it.
