UPDATED: CBS has bought a multi-camera comedy from brothers Tim and Michael Hobert. The project, produced by Warner Bros Television, is about a newly married man who happens to be from a big family… he just doesn’t know it yet. It stems from Hoberts’ real-life experiences. Tim and Mike Hobert come from a large family — they are the middle and the youngest of five brothers. The two will co-write, with Tim Hobert executive producing and Mike Hobert co-executive producing. Last year, the two sold another semi-autobiographical comedy through Warner Bros TV, which was based on their experience working together. (Mike started off as an assistant for his 12-years-older writer-producer brother.) UTA-repped Tim Hobert, former executive producer/showrunner on the Fox comedy series ‘Til Death, serves as co-executive producer on the ABC/WBTV comedy The Middle.
Meanwhile, ABC has bought a comedy from Nastaran Dibai (Retired At 35, According To Jim). Inspired by personal experience, the project, from ABC Studios, centers on a widow who is trying to move on with her life. Dibai is executive producing with Aaron Kaplan and Retired At 35 EPs Mindy Schultheis and Michael Hanel. This marks the first solo pilot writing effort for Dibai, who for the past two decades had been teamed with her husband and writing partner Jeffrey Hodes until his sudden death exactly a year ago. The duo previously worked with Kaplan on the ABC pilot Funny In Farsi.

Love me the Hobert Boys
There it is again… “autobiographical”… would love if everyone would pitch their auto-erotic stories as shows too.
Maybe put it on… Cinemax.
Great news about the brothers Hobert! They earned this and will no doubt deliver. Well done!
Great news about the brothers Hobert! I have no doubt they’ll deliver something special.
Didnt they sell the same show last year?
Yep.
No, different show.
re the Brothers Hobert..they sold the same show twice? man their lives must REALLY be interesting.
Nastaran is the real deal, this is a smart buy from ABC.
It’s actually a different comedy.
Selling a pitch, like wigh the double bounce, is all in the timing.
Nastaran Dibai is a huge talent! Can’t wait to see the show.
The Hobert parties were a blast back in Milwaukee in the 70s! Everywhere you looked was a Hobert. Hope to see a clip of Len playing the banjo! Childhood memories equal good times!
