There’s going to be more of tiny pageant sensation Alana Thompson and her family on TV. TLC said today it ordered more episodes of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, the redneck reality series that has become something of a pop culture phenomenon. In addition to adding to the show’s initial 10-episode order, the network will air three Boo Boo holiday specials this year — for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. “What you see is what you get and we are excited to share even more of Alana and her family’s unbridled hilarity, sincerity and love with our viewers,” said Amy Winter, general manager of TLC. The Authentic Entertainment-produced series has been a ratings hit since its August 10 debut, averaging 2.3 million viewers an episode. The first half of Honey Boo Boo’s debut season ends tonight with a special one-hour episode.

May I have some Pepto-Bismol and a barf bag, please?
Please God, deliver us from evil.
when did The Learning Channel change into The Loser Channel???
When they stopped calling themselves The Learning Channel. TLC is the worst of the worst. How do their executives sleep at night? Are ratings and profits really that important to do the things they do on that “network”?
“are ratings and profits that important?” you’re kidding, right? as much as an artistic and socially irrelevant POS HBB is the ROI is thru the roof.
I can’t believe someone actually posted that and thought doing so was a good idea.
The road to hell is not paved with good intentions, it’s paved with reality tv shows
OHHHH COOLLL
Another childhood casualty in the making…
I really hope there’s a special place in Hell reserved for TLC and Bravo executives.
There probably is… but it was so horrible that Dante left it out of the Inferno….
I hope TLC coughed up a raise for the family. They deserve it.
They are so poor and the company is getting so rich off of them. It is kind of gross.
I feel sorry for anyone who is truly excited about this.
A&E, circa 1990 – Leonard Bernstein conducts Fidelio
A&E, circa today – Parking Wars
Bravo, circa 1990 – Jazz Counterpoint
Bravo, circa today – The Real Housewives of New Jersey
TLC, circa 1990 – Captain’s Log with Captain Mark Gray
TLC, circa today – Here Comes Honey Boo Boo
And people complain about “The Jersey Shore”…
Y’all better shut up and redneck-ognize! A dollar makes me holler!
TLC stands for “the learning channel.” i hope the taliban and al qaeda watch “honey boo boo.” if they do they’ll know they don’t have to kill us over there. because we’re already brain dead over here. and it’s just a matter of time.
More signs of the apocalypse… Will the world just end already, this is getting absurd
Idiocracy here we come!
I have to admit I’ve never seen the show…but I don’t understand people’s hatred towards it. It’s so condescending to act like these people are being exploited; they know what they’re doing. Yes, it celebrates farts and white trash but it also shows a family that seems to genuinely care about each other. Where are the complaints about shows that celebrate bitchiness and hate? Because I see WAY more of those on TV… A Bravo “Housewife” can get violet and that’s okay…but god forbid one of them farts!
AGREE. i don’t understand why people are SO offended by this show; there are so many other reality shows that are way worse. first of all, the family doesn’t get paid that much (TLC reality shows pay way less than you think), so it’s not like you have to feel offended about going to college and not making as much money as them. they seem to genuinely enjoy themselves, freely admit that they are redneck (while leaving out the annoying political implications), and don’t seem to be hurting anyone. it’s not like we’re rewarding them for promoting awful behavior, like “Teen Mom” where a bunch of high school girls thought it was a great idea to get pregnant so they could get on the show. i’ve also heard a lot of people complain how it’s so awful that the parents are exploiting their child and i can only assume that they haven’t seen the show. the kid earnestly loves pageanting — you can roll your eyes all you want — and the parents don’t push her at all into it. they laugh at themselves all the time and are just inviting the rest of us to laugh with them. there are much worse thing on TV to get angry about.
I will never understand people complaining about TV like this. Odd.
Because it makes people dumb, that’s why. Just like how fast food makes you fat. If this is all that dominates the eyes and ears of media, which is what it’s fast becoming, how are we ever going to get to Mars, cure diseases, etc. We won’t because we’re all too f**king stupid to know how.
To quote Forrest Gump, “stupid is as stupid does.” This stuff we call entertainment is embarrassing to the human race.
So… this is the kind of stuff the soldiers are fighting to protect.
Like “The Bachelor” or “Bachelorette” is quality programming…
Hey TLC..any chance gay uncle Poodle can get bumped up to series regular status next season??..or at the very least heavily featured on ANY of the Holiday specials?. I love him!
Please, god, NO!!! End the insanity that is TLC!!!
