• I wonder if the story was “floated” out into the press to gauge fans’ and industry reaction (on comment boards like this one). Once they saw that the reaction was pretty positive, did that give Carrey the comfort to close the deal and accept the role?

  Just curious. Wonder if (and how often) that kind of thing happens.

• I am excited to hear of Jim Carrey’s casting in the film. However, I am a bit disappointed that Nicolas Cage will not have much involvement in the sequel. I thought that he played the character well in the original film and the chemistry he had with Chloe Grace Moretz was evident throughout. I was hoping that they could further flesh out his character in the sequel but I was a bit miffed to hear that he will only have a cameo at best. Hopefully, they don’t kill his character off at the beginning of the film, which is a ploy that many hollywood sequels have been using lately. Cage hasn’t been in many notable films since Kick Ass two years ago. I was hoping that his involvement in the sequel could compensate for his recent string of lackluster films.

  Anyways, Carrey will make a great addition to the cast. He is a great actor and I like when he tackles on roles where he can combine both his skills as a comedian and as a dramatic actor. Furthermore, I enjoy watching him in darker films where he plays characters who are twisted or disturbed. I’m elated to hear that the film will be released in June!!!
