Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams, Willem Dafoe and Robin Wright will star in A Most Wanted Man, a spy thriller directed by Anton Corbijn. The modern-day spy thriller will be co-financed and co-produced by Demarest Films’ Sam Englebardt, Michael Lambert and William D. Johnson. The screenplay was written by Andrew Bovell (Edge Of Darkness, Lantana), based on the best-selling novel by John le Carré. Producers are Gail Egan and Andrea Calderwood under their Potboiler Productions banner and Stephen and Simon Cornwell from Ink Factory. Johnson and Englebardt will executive produce alongside Tessa Ross of Film4 and le Carré. FilmNation Entertainment is handling domestic and international sales.
A Most Wanted Man takes place in present-day Hamburg, Germany. A mysterious half-Chechen, half-Russian man, brutally scarred from torture, surfaces in the city’s Islamic community, on the run and desperate for help. He seeks to recover his late Russian father’s fortune and soon connects with a conflicted British private banker and a young female lawyer fiercely determined to protect the rights of persecuted émigrés. Nothing about the young man seems to add up: is he a victim, a thief or, worse yet, an extremist intent on destruction? All the while, they are watched by the brilliant, roguish chief of a covert German spy unit (Hoffman), who fights to put together the pieces as the clock ticks.

I hope Robin Wright’s role is big and good. I’m tired of watching her talent wasted in underwritten roles like Moneyball or State of Play
I thought Rachel McAdams had dropped out of this project.
This was incorrectly reported by a number of sites after it was announced that Wright had joined the cast. The original article never mentioned anything about McAdams being replaced. There were also similar reports that Dafoe had replaced Hoffman, which were once again created by reporters reading too much into the originating article & making an assumption.
Looks promising with all four now confirmed.
Corbijn ,Hoffman, Le Carré in one film – it’s just incredible! Dreams come true.
