I agree – the song works. Besides, the movies won’t be out for SEVEN months – I’m sure they will create plenty of other trailers that appeal to other demos.
Does anybody else think that Harrison Ford looks like Kevin Kline in this trailer?
Awesome trailer. I’m in.
I actually think the trailer is great! Jay-Z and Santigold’s “Brooklyn (we go hard)” is only for trailer purposes and I completely understand why it was used… One, it could draw a younger crowd to the film… Two, Jay-Z mentions Jackie Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers.
It isn’t even that big of a deal… The trailer is beautifully crafted. I that makes you not want to see it because you think just from the trailer, you’ll have a Jay-Z soundtrack then so be it…
I think “42″ and “The Great Gatsby” make great use of Jay-Z’s music for their trailers!
I’m an old, fat, white woman, and I LOVE the trailer and the music!
Saw this trailer in the theater today. It made a big impact even though the kids sitting around me didn’t seem to know who JR was.
I dig the trailer and the JZ track. It’s a trailer meant to bring eyeballs to the theater which means a younger demo. Unfortunately the young folks have no idea about the music of that era, so to catch their attention a contemporary artist is used. From a marketing perspective it’s a smart move.
Seriously guys? I thought the music in the trailer made Jackie look like a BOSS
The music is fine. Its just a trailer. My son is a ballplayer in the movie. All are pro of high level college…real talent mixed in with Lucas Black and Ryan Merriman. Its the real. Will be true and real. I am an extra cast as an usher on homefield dugout. Enjoy the show!

everybody mad at the Jay-Z song are just idiotic, at best. the movie is about selling tickets… if they played Louie Armstrong, or some music from that era, do you think many people would get excited about a story they may not know much about (other than the famous name)??? that song is called “Brooklyn (We Go Hard)” it ties the BROOKLYN them, as in Brooklyn Dodgers… it also is a hard/rugged beat & flow that ties the rough and rugged edge a man like Jackie had to have to get through what he did. also, Jay is rapping about the man dipicted in the film! not to mention people like Jackie paved the way for people like Jay. get over all your selves in trying to critique something you don’t have much a clue about.
I personally, found the music to work well with the trailer. It had the highs and lows in the music to fit the dramatics in the film (or storyline rather) and it shows his efforts have since helped other African Americans succeed in society.
All this proves is that you don’t need any intelligence to be a rapper, and even less to listen to it and think it is relevant. A six year old kid could write those lyrics. Jackie Robinson deserves better. It undermines Robinson’s struggles and contributions to society.
I like the music fuck all of you
Jackie Robinson was in a credible black man eBay Pizza home record o eBay Pizza home record of Babe Ruth Elmo’s
why dont you just shut your mouth and just focus on the movie at hand. a historic element about the first black baseball player, making his name known in the history of sport, fuck the music in the background. when the film comes out, you wont even remember the fucking trailer.
p.s. if your really concerned, take a road trip to where the trailers are made, talk to them. then go to jay-z personally, and tell him how bad he is at putting music in trailers. if you do that, i will kill myself. or you what you spoiled assholes could do is write a detailed letter, explaining your anger towards the trailer, put it in a ups envelope, and shove it up your ass.
