EXCLUSIVE: Former CSI star and executive producer William Petersen has signed with WME. The move comes two weeks after Petersen departed Cinemax pilot Hurt People, which he had helped develop and sell. During Petersen’s nine-season stint on CSI, the crime drama was the most watched series on American television and ranked several times as No. 1 in the world. Petersen, who is partnered with long-time producing partner Cynthia Chvatal at their High Horse Films, started his career in theater before segueing to features and TV. Wow this is such a shocker! UTA had done wonders with his acting career after CSI…that pivotal role in ‘Seeking a Friend’ was magical. From 600K per episode to scale indie movie roles…that must have been a tough choice to leave.
He absolutely deserves better then he was getting!
After CSI, Bill purposely took himself out of the game to do theatre in Chicago. Now he wants back in. Nothing wrong with that.
Bill was sick of TV after CSI…he said he wanted to do theatre and indie movies, much to the chagrin of UTA. You can’t force your client to work and go up for higher profile jobs. God knows he doesn’t need the money. Tracy Jacobs is awesome and she’ll be fine without him. If he really wanted to kick start his career, he should have dumped his manager/producing partner instead. No one I know can stand to work with her.

Another way to look at it is UTA helped make him the star of the biggest tv show on the planet which made him many millions of dollars. Many millions. And then actors think, “where’s my next franchise?”. Doesn’t work that way. To Live and Die in LA and Manhunter are classics tho.
Don’t think he’s thinking “where’s my next franchise”, he left CSI.
Would love to see him in a great part in a film.
PS Les Moonves made him the star.
UTA made millions and continues to make millions off thier package fee on CSI because of Petersen…they did zip for him after he left the show? No wonder he left.

Manhunter was a instant classic … Billy is a terrrific actor. Kind of surprising that nothing has happened since CSI … terrific news, welcome back Billy!

We can all speculate. I know I was looking forward to Hurt People. New reps will do well for him – just make it soon ! And for those of you who think he’s loaded with money, think again. While he is certainly well off, there are other, less deserving actors who are worth much more.
Why has there been nothing about Billy and Gina’s twins? Also, it had been previously stated by Marg Helgeberger that Billy did not return to CSI upon her departure because of the twins.
