much better than the first trailer
The original Die Hard, and even the sequels (to varying degrees), were actual stories, with characters and dialogue, not a series of excuses for explosions, crashes and mayhem. Hopefully the trailer is not a reflection of the entire film.
It looks like it will be a good day to die laughing. Preposterous in the extreme and completely ridiculous. He goes to Moscow and he’s once more in the right place at the wrong time. Or is it the wrong place at the right time? He doesn’t speak or read Russian but he instantly knows how to beat the bad guys and he’s able to avoid bullets from a hundred machine guns. It’s sad to see Die Hard exploited like this. The first two movies were perfection. The third one was enjoyable. The fourth one was fun in parts but this fifth iteration is one too many. If their goal was to destroy the franchise they have now accomplished this.
any die hard sequel… would have him in the wrong place at the wrong time. what a silly complaint
To summarize your post “wahh wahh wahhh wahhhhh”
Here’s what I’m going to give you to make your life better: You don’t have to watch. How’s that? I can alleviate all your problems. Get on with your life. It won’t “destroy your franchise” if you don’t watch it. I know I’m going to, and enjoy the hell out of it.
I love Die Hard. Love Willis in this role. Hated the third one. Enjoyed the rest. First is a CLASSIC. The problem with this is John Moore. He stinks as a director. They should make these movies until Bruce is 70. He never gets old in this role! Just get talented directors to make these and we’ll all keep showing up.
Much like how McClane’s analogue, non-tech brain was an obstacle worked into the premise of Live Free or Die Hard, I’m sure that McClane’s language barrier in Russia will be worked into the narrative. McClane being a fish-out-of-water has always been central to the franchise going all the way back to part 1, and the Russia backdrop is a fresh way to do this. Does the teaser above really show that McClane “instantly knows how to beat the bad guys and he’s able to avoid bullets from a hundred machine guns?” I don’t remember seeing any of that. And at least the setup is that he’s going to rescue his son from some kind of trouble, so the premise establishes that there is trouble on the horizon and that McClane has a reason for being there…he’s not just randomly in Russia.
If the movie ends up a turd, it’ll be because Fox hired a journeyman director and soullessly tamed the franchise, like they did with part 4, by neutering down to a PG-13 rating when the level of violence and McClane’s awesomely vulgar running commentary was what made it special in the first place.
And let’s not forget that this is just a teaser trailer, meant to whet the appetite. I doubt it is a “reflection of the entire film” and it seems as if there is a specific father-son story to tell. Let’s also not forget that Fox has always put together surprisingly lame trailers for this franchise (with the booming trailer guy telling us that part 1 would “blow us through the back wall of the theater,” part 2 would blow us “sky high” and in part 3, “when the theater goes dark, the roof blows off.”
Yeah, dynamite stuff Fox. Willis still looks great though, hopefully he can save it.
It’s time for “24″ to be the new action movie franchise. They are taking forever to get the script right and Kiefer is eager to get rolling on the 24 movie hopefully it will be sensational.
I’d watch that only if they promise to call it, “2″.
I think 8 seasons (192 hours) is enough of anything. Leave it be.
I’m only interested if it’s a prequel so they can bring back all the amazing characters they killed off or made evil (Tony, Bill Buchanan, etc.)
Don’t care who you are…who you know in the industry…what you’ve done. DO NOT CARE! If you watch this trailer and don’t get jazzed? You JUST DO NOT KNOW good movies when you see them.
DIE HARD 5 looks entertaining. That is the bottom line. It will make money. That is the bottom line. Audiences do not go to the movies to get an educations, they pay $10 a Ticket to have a good time. DIE HARD 5 will do just that.
