EXCLUSIVE: Community creator Dan Harmon is back on the air with a new series, this time on Adult Swim. The network has given a series order to Rick & Morty, a half-hour animated comedy from Harmon and Justin
Roiland. The show, which will premiere in 2014, follows a genius inventor grandfather and his less-than-genius grandson, and the journeys in life they share. Rick & Morty was originally picked up to pilot in May when it was announced at Adult Swim’s upfront. In addition to Rick & Morty, Harmon has two live-action comedy projects in development at CBS and Fox.

Make a cartoon!
Go Justin Roiland!! 2014 though? Does animation really take that long for adult swim style shows?
Animation takes that long for pretty much all animated shows. A live action show can be filmed in a week, a cartoon can take a month or two.
Except for South Park which is generally done in one week.
Sounds like a lot of fun. Can’t wait to see this.
Plus cartoon characters can’t fire showrunners. Cannot wait to see this.
Good news for Harmon – cartoons can’t walk off the set or refuse to say lines they don’t like.
Bad news for Harmon – cartoons can’t improvise lines to bail out a weak script.
Dan Harmon is a genius. Dying to see this or anything else he cooks up next. Can this please air earlier than 2014?
Roiland is an untapped genius. Remember the name folks.
Ill watch it if it’s a half hour, maybe if a quarter hour
