We have the first official casualty of the 2012-13 season. CBS has pulled low-rated new drama Made In Jersey off the schedule after two airings. Starting November 2, just in time for the November sweep, unscripted series Undercover Boss will return to CBS’ Friday lineup in the 8 PM slot it occupied last spring.
Effective immediately, CSI: NY will move back to the 9 PM hour where Made In Jersey had aired. In the next three weeks, NCIS and Hawaii Five-0 repeats will air in the 8 PM hour. Undercover Boss, which just won an Emmy for best reality series, performed well on Friday in the spring. Meanwhile, Made In Jersey faltered this fall, opening overwhelmingly and then falling a steep 27% to a 0.8/3 last Friday, prompting our prediction that CBS would likely summon Undercover Boss on the night soon. The move of CSI: NY to 8 PM has hurt the aging crime drama, which posted steep year-to-year declines. It also negatively affected 10 PM Blue Bloods, down in the ratings with the weak Made In Jersey lead-in. CBS had one of its worst ratings finishes last Friday, which likely led to the swift action. Made In Jersey starred Janet Montgomery as a street-smart New Jersey girl working for a top Manhattan law firm.
Another new drama that is struggling mightily this fall, Fox’s The Mob Doctor (0.9/2 on Monday), also is getting off the air, but that is for a three-week baseball pre-emption. It remains to be seen whether it will come back afterward.

What took so long?
Wonder who at CBS was dating or otherwise “pushing for” Janet Montgomery? Pretty girl, good actress, but WAY miscast. And there aren’t 5,000+ women in SAG/AFTRA who are actual Americans, not Brits???
Didn’t matter who they cast. Show was an abortion from jump. How this past all the levels necessary to make it to air is baffling. There was never– NEVER an ounce of hope for this poorly written dreck to survive.
im ver unhappy for the axeing of this show and other shows , why couldnt they air these on Saturday schedules where CBS only show repeat of NCIS and HAWAII 5-O I believed that MADE IN JERSEY should have been given more airing chance , move it around like CBS did with the CSI series
Just watched Made in Jersey and don’t understand why it is being cancelled.
By November, there will likely be no first-run scripted programming on Friday nights at 8 P.M. (ET/PT) on any English-language broadcast network.
Within a couple of years, Friday prime-time may well be reality, reruns, or newsmagazines.
Or niche shows with stable fanbases, a la Fringe and Grimm.
Last Man Standing and Malibu Country air 8-9pm starting November 2nd on ABC.
Maybe it’s just 80′s Baby nostalgia on my part, but I remember when ABC’s TGIF pulled in huge numbers with family programming. I’m surprised that this isn’t being tried by one of the networks, seeing as it’s mostly families watching TV on Friday and Saturday nights.
Awww man. I really liked this show. Hope they out the rest if the episodes online.
Damn, NYC 22 lasted longer than this. RIP.
Why wouldn’t CBS bring back (unforgettable) sooner than later ????
YEAH. And Film It In L.A.
Unforgettable was awful – and forgettable.
Absolutely!!And for crap like Jersey they cancelled last year’s A Good Man , which had a nice complicated story, good characters and redeeming values of a leading man….dumb suits strike again.
Really liking Mob Doctor … finally something different than another CSI-spin off. Pretty good writing and acting and William Forsythe .. astonishing. He’s giving Gandolfini a solid run for his money. Watch it – you won’t be disappointed!
does Gandolifini know it’s a race?
MADE IN JERSEY never should have been made at all
I love that show they should pull it on on Monday night or Wed night that works that sucks
I think Mob Doctor may be cancel very soon
It should have been on USA. Totally wrong feel for CBS. Blue Sky Good Wife.
Haven’t had the chance to see Mob Doctor as our cable company is in dispute with Fox so it has been blacked out.
Mob Doctor should have sticked with the original title of “Bad Medicine”
The show wasn’t bad, actually liked it. But it didn’t mesh well with the rest of the line up. Hurt Blue Bloods a lot. The Mentalist did ok on Fridays @ 9. CSI NY is dying, so let it at 8pm. Move Undercover Boss to Sundays, where it can counterprogram.
I guess viewers of CBS are just going to be programmed to until they literally die and then CBS will go off the air.
Does this mean CBS will no longer have shows with women at the center playing female characters?
Elementary has Lucy Lu playing a man.
The Good Wife is the only CBS show that’s had any kind of critical success and it happens to have a female lead.
The rest of the one hours on CBS are a woman playing second or third position to a man if there’s a woman at all.
It’s the network for Mitt Romney voters.
Don’t forget about ‘Two Broke Girls’!
Nothing says empowering like two women in short skirts and high-heels making dirty jokes…
Too bad, it was fun on demand.
Spotlighting Janet Montgomery’s horrible Jersey accent in the marketing campaign was the first nail in the coffin for this show.
100% agreeing
Agreed she was a nice actress and a very appealing woman but the fake accent made the show look cartoonish. CBS should have hired an American, even one with an authentic Jersey accent. SAG-AFTRA has tens of thousands of members…this show could have made it. What a waste of good talent, and not Montgomery’s fault She was just miscast.
Not surprised as it was pretty bad and too young for the night and channel. CBS would have been better off sticking it on the CW. Though at the steep rate CSINY is falling off creatively and viewing and all the behind the scenes issues on Blue Bloods something had to be done. Blue Bloods is already a lock for a 4th season no matter what the ratings, but if CSINY hemorrhages anymore it might get burned off.
Absolutely !! It was “Made” for CW and not CBS and certainly not on a Friday at 9PM! It was doomed from the start and way too fluffy . Not to mention the premise was pretty ridiculous….and asked for too much of a suspension of disbelief! A first year doing what she was doing and wearing what she was wearing with hair like that IN a courtroom and before the judge! NOT!
CSI NY has never been beaten in it’s time slot. Moving it to 8 is what hurt the ratings. It’s not an 8 O’Clock show. To say it’s fallen off creatively is a joke. Do you watch the show? I didn’t think so. Look at the list of shows it’s fought off in it’s time slot. The Nine, Invasion, Lost, Law and Order…..the list goes on. The show has been treated like a red headed step child and it still does well.
Please stop making scripted shows that would’ve been popular in 1986.
CBS is Killing Blue Bloods by this bad Programming and has also sent the Mentalist to die on Sundays just like they did with CSI Miami and Witout A Trace before it.
Their head of programming should be cancelled
I guess Fox can cancel Mob Doctor now.
I’m glad. I didn’t like the fact that they used a British actress to play the lead. I’m sure that Snooki has cousin that can act somewhere in Jersey.
That’s a dumb reason. As long as the actress was good, it didn’t matter. I’m tired of foreigners playing Americans too but I’ll fairly praise them when they play Americans well and wouldn’t wish a show to do badly because of that.
Interesting both Made In Jersey and Mob Doctor are Sony TV. Can they get anything to last outside of cable?
The show was too dumbed down like Mob Doctor. Instead the network will blame its demise on the fact it had a female lead rather than it wasn’t a deep or compelling enough story to be a series. Nice try though CBS. Appreciate the effort to try and create a less violent and more youthful brand.
Whenever I’ve seen ‘Made in Jersey’ billboards around town I’ve wondered ‘made in Jersey’ actually means or is supposed to imply. Now I won’t have to wonder.
I don’t watch original scripted television on Friday nights. Friday nights are usually movie nights (whether at the theaters or on Netflix/DVD) or for going out.
Cool story, bro
What was the concept exactly? A girl from New Jersey goes to work at a law firm in New York? How did this idea make it this far??
