Here’s a clip released by CBS from Tuesday night’s The Late Show With David Letterman, the second show in a row without an audience. He again directed his monologue to the band, reporting on the latest with Hurricane Sandy, which he noted was an odd name “for such a miserable force of nature”. “Economic losses could reach $20 billion – and most of that is in paper towels”, he quipped.

Note to Letterman…Do your next show “Live” from the streets around Battery Park City.
With all de respect, Dave, your show really needs a live audience. Without that feedback and interaction, the shows tonight and Monday were just dead. You’d be better off rebroadcasting reruns. (The same goes for Jimmy Fallons attempts at a show with no audience.)
Jimmy Kimmel managed to get a full live audience for his live show in Brooklyn last night …. why couldn’t Dave? There were a lot of people out on the streets… they showed them.
I agree, Dave is dead without audience feedback.
So, Fallon and Kimmel were able to scare up an audience Tuesday, why not Dave?
The Emperor had no clothes.
This demonstrated just how great Tom Snyder really was.
