USA Network has cast the four leads in the Denis Leary comedy pilot Sirens: Michael Mosley (Pan Am, Scrubs), Kevin Daniels (Modern Family), Kevin Bigley and Jessica McNamee. Co-created by Leary and Bob Fisher, Sirens follows three of Chicago’s best EMTs — Johnny (Mosley), Hank (Daniels) and Brian (Bigley) — whose sometimes self-loathing, other times narcissistic, and always downright self-destructive personalities make them unqualified for sustaining relationships, friendships and most occupations. They are, however, uniquely qualified for saving anyone unlucky enough to wind up in their ambulance. Johnny is a good-looking, sports-loving, Chicago EMT working with his best friend Hank. Brian is a wide-eyed and excitable new EMT who still lives with his parents. McNamee will play the female lead, Theresa, a smart female cop with the Chicago PD who still loves her ex Johnny, but ultimately had to move on when he wouldn’t commit. The pilot, produced by Fox TV Studios, will shoot in Chicago later this month.
Sirens is one of two single-camera comedy pilots USA ordered this summer, along with Paging Dr. Freed, which recently wrapped production, as the network is looking to launch an original half-hour comedy in time for the fall 2013 off-network syndication premiere of Modern Family. Mosley is with Gersh and Smith Talent Management. Daniels is with Stone Manners Salners.

Well this is clearly not as impressive of a cast as Paging Dr. Freed. PDF has Kyle Howard, one of the most underrated actors of the 2000s and Joel David Moore who was in Avatar. This has 4 people with very limited comic history. Granted, Denis Leary normally casts unknowns in his shows which are always good, but I still do think Paging Dr. Freed will be more likely to be picked up. I hear the script is brilliant, and the audition tapes I saw of it had some pretty good dialogue. The Sirens audition tape I saw was just a throwaway sex scene, with Johnny and Theresa doing it in the ambulance.
PDF also has the two unattractive male actors playing gynecologists. Can’t wait.
Get yours Kev! Congrats my dude. Very very proud of you. LOLA CTO!!
Go Kev, You been long overdue.
I like to imagine that the two previous posts were written by the two actors on the show named Kevin to each another.
I think this gonna be a great show. Both lead actors are tremendous
sounds like a ‘mother, jugs and speed’ remake for tv.
Sounds like a remake of a British show with the same name.
They were filming the pilot on my street tonight outside the Biggs Mansion in Chicago. Saw Leary and Daniels.
anybody heard anything else about this pilot?
Seen it. It’s great. They need to go ahead with it.
I was picked to watch the pilot while at Universal Orlando yesterday and got $20 for doing it, the first two minutes were boring for me until they got a call then all went to madness and loved it! I normally would never choose to watch a show like this but after the pilot was over i was bummed and wanted to watch more, hope this makes the air, some of the rescues were just insane funny and the dialogue was smart and fun.
we shoulda thought of that.
