I laughed out loud when I saw the satellite company’s Facebook message to its subscribers who won’t be able to catch the third-season premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead this Sunday — because Dish dropped the channel in June. But don’t let that color your opinion. Here it is, so you can tell us what you think: ”DISH understands that ‘The Walking Dead’ on AMC is a very popular series. To show appreciation, customers will be provided ‘Tales of the Apocalypse,’ a free scary movie fest every day in the month of October. Starting at 8 PM ET on Blockbuster Studio, channel 102, ‘Walking Dead’ fans can enjoy these horror/science-fiction commercial free movies. Additional On Demand scary movies will also be available for only 10 cents each. Visit http://bit.ly/UooiDI for full details as well as the full list of scary movies.”

#DISHFAIL
There is bigger picture issue here, Charlie Ergen and his circa 1965 leadership theory X style and his resulting leadership puppets that report to him are now trying to pawn second-rate programming on Dish subscribers in lieu of the AMC channels. Do they really think we are that gullible or that stupid?!?! I am yanking the plug on Dish and going to Directv….they are not perfect either but at least they do have the channels that Dish has dropped. I really hope the judge residing over the Dish/Voom trial will hammer Dish big time with huge fines ! Dish Network has become an unethical company that I NO LONGER want to patronize.
It would be time better spent…
WD is for twelve year old boys.
Then all of TV is for 12 year old boys. What business is Dish in again?
So is using acronyms needlessly. But what can you do?
Huh?
WD is not worth my time. I’m glad it’s worth yours.
I’ve never actually seen Walking Dead. I just find it annoying that people have to use acronyms for everything, now. It’s lazy. I’ve read numerous comments by people who use acronyms instead of taking the extra two seconds to talk about a show or movie, and I haven’t a clue what they’re talking about.
TV for people, twelve year old boys? There is a much wider audience for the series than that.
Although I will say that Dish customers didn’t miss much. The season 3 premiere was the worst so far. It seems that as each season gets longer, the episodes drag on more.
If you read TV Guide, perhaps you have read the “not suitable for children” warning at the beginning of “WD” or as we grown ups call it, Walking Dead.
As for being for 12 year olds, tt also pulled in 7.3 million viewers ages 18 to 49 in one night. Note the ages – 18 to 49.
Perhaps readings something other than TV Guide would be “time better spent” before you start bashing other people’s entertainment preferences.
sounds like an equitable trade-off offered by dish…one meritless artistically worthless piece of crap for another…might I humbly suggest pocketing your hard earned cash, dropping cable or satellite & tuning into some truly beautifully written & performed dramas on the BBC affiliated PBS stations…God forbid, you might find them entertaining, inspiring & life changing…foyles war, wallender, upstairs downstairs, dowtown abbey, doc martin, mi-5, call the midwife…to name just a few…
I don’t know what’s more charmless: your pretension, or that pretension coupled with you misspelling two of the series’ titles.
Something tells me you are a KCET viewer. You mention several good shows. But seriously, how is MI5 (a show I like) somehow more high-minded and worthwhile than The Walking Dead? Something tells me you might not be saying this if AMC’s zombie fighters had British accents.
Bingo.
The Walking Dead is better written, acted, and lavishly produced — just a generally better piece of art — than all of the British series you names, all of which I have seen and most of which are pretty “twee.” I am not an American, and have watched a great deal of British TV in my life. British TV is pretty far below the best of what American cable has to offer.
^This fool actually thinks The Walking Dead is well written and well acted, WOW. You’re not kidding anyone, you haven’t seen some of the Brit dramas that have been mentioned, you probably haven’t watched many shows anyway if you hold such a positive opinion about TWD.
IDIOT!!
I’d put Doctor Who up against WD any day of the week.
DR. WHO!!
Funny that a couple of the lead actors in the Walking Dead are in fact British actors doing very convincing accents. I guess if a British actor found it worthy of acting in, it must be good, right?
Oh get off your high horse, Snobby McSnobberson. The Walking Dead is a fantastic show.
Why the hell do you care what other people watch?
If you don’t like something, don’t watch it. Watch what you DO like, and stop the pretentious proselytizing to others.
They gave me a $35 credit so I could buy them on iTunes. They better have Mad men when that comes around.
They won’t. All of AMC is gone from Dish, not just The Walking Dead.
Wow Gymrat so much hate! If you don’t like pop culture fine, please don’t hate on the rest of us that do. I happen to enjoy PBS, BBC as well as The Walking Dead. I don’t feel that one has to be rated or judged more critically than another, it’s all entertainment.
I for one cannot wait for Dish to offer up old seasons of ‘The Apprentice’ when ‘Mad Men’ comes back in the spring. “Remember when Omarosa? Dish Does!”
I just canceled TWC and ordered my Dish . . . NOT!
Wow… To the two commentators above: If you don’t like The Walking Dead, you don’t have to slam the people who do. You both came off very poorly.
Replacing The Walking Dead with Tales of the Apocalypse is a bigger joke than replacement refs in football
Then again, AMC is pretty funny running ads like you are missing Bunk.
The Walking Dead is as well written as Two and a Half Men but it is cable’s biggest scripted hit. This is a PR disaster.
Unbelievable!! Walking Dead was one of my favorite shows never missed an episode. I couldnt wait Sunday to start the new season and now Dish as dropped the station. Why? Ive always loved Dish but I assure u I am questioning my loyalty to Dish right now. Whats going to be next?!?!
i just live chatted with dish and they told me that i will be able to view walking dead on channel 102 on sunday nights at 8pm ET. I was threatening to switch providers because of it and then she said that i will be able to view it on channel 102. I was fully intending to argue for the roku box and 30 dollar credit as others have and then she said this is a new option. Im not really sure if I believe it or not lol…has anyone else heard this?? btw they did offer the scary movie bit on wkends and i said “thats great but its obviously not the walking dead, i have watched that show from the beginning and i have been a long time customer of dish network. is there any other options to make this right?” thats when she told me i would be able to view it. i wonder, are they covering a streaming fee or something to dish customers or what??
depending on your time zone, you will either be watching Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) or The Omega Man (1971) on Dish channel 102. The Omega Man kind of has zombies, so in a way you will be watching a kind of walking dead, just not the actual Walking Dead.
I kind of liked “Walking Dead.” Then Dish dropped AMC. I kind of shrugged, plan to buy the box set, and moved on.
Now, if Dish drops Turner Classic Movies…THERE WILL BE BLOOD!
It’s a damn shame that Dish dropped AMC. I don’t know for whom to root here, although my gut tells me AMC is the right side to be on. They make good shows (for the most part) and Dish not being willing to pay? That’s too bad. Good shows should be paid for.
Attention must be paid!
I’m okay with this. I lost my appetite for The Walking Dead with last season’s snoozefest. I’m sure it’ll be better this season with the Governor arc but I’m just not up for watching it anymore, even if DISH hadn’t dropped AMC,. I can’t say the same about having missed Breaking Bad and now missing Hell On Wheels. That is a true tragedy.
Bite it Dish! You are so gone from my life.
They play far better films around Halloween on AMC than the ones DISH is offering as a trade. Fans are what drive genres, especially when it comes to horror, so this is a stupid move on their part.
We cant believe dish. With you hype about how much better you are than Direct Tv. You knock your loyal custumers out the some of best shows on tv….we personally are going to Direct as soon as possible.
I’ll be watching AHS:ASYLUM instead.
How about I replace you dish with basic cable?
That reason why I drop Dish network for Verzion FIOS Breaking bad and this
I drop it when they announced they going drop AMC love those two shows
That just proves Dish’s point. You have all these people rallying over 1 show on 1 channel. Breaking Bad and MadMen are the other two popular ones I think. I like The Walking Dead, and I’m going to miss out on it too but the main thing here is $$$$. This a really bad deal for Dish especially when it’s a very, very low percentage of their customer base that even watches AMC and not all of those people watch all three shows, they may watch 1 or 2. AMC is losing money not just by DISH dropping them but wasting money on a smear campaign. If Dish caves all you Dish customers that are complaining now are guaranteed to be complaining about your bill going up $15+ and you’ll have no one to blame but you.
Looks like The Walking Dead will eat Dish alive.
Im so mad that WD series will not be on!! Its a grest show..they need to bring back AMC.i used to think dish was awesome but having 2 nd thoughts..
