CBS has given back-nine orders to freshman drama Elementary and Vegas, bringing their freshman seasons to a full-season 22 episodes each.
Elementary‘s pickup was a no-brainer as the
Sherlock Holmes reboot has been the the No. 2 new series of the season among adults 18-49 (behind NBC’s Revolution) and total viewers (behind Vegas). In the most current ratings (two weeks of Live+7 and two of Live+Same Day), Elementary has averaged 14.3 million viewers and a 3.5/10 in 18-49, improving its Thursday 10 PM time period by 17% in 18-49. In total viewers, it is even with The Mentalist‘s performance last fall. As expected, Vegas has been older-skewing given its subject matter and star Dennis Quaid, but it ranks as the most-watched new series this fall. In most current ratings, it averages 14.9 million viewers and 2.7/8 in 18-49. It has improved the year-ago time period by 8% in viewers, but it is down 7% in 18-49 from Unforgettable‘s delivery in the Tuesday 10 PM hour last fall. “Vegas and Elementary have opened strong, delivering big audiences and winning performances in important time periods,” said CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler. ”Each of the shows has rich characters, big stars and a unique visual style that have stood out in the crowd, helping make two of our strongest nights even stronger.”
CBS’ third new fall drama, Made In Jersey, has already been cancelled. The future of the network’s fourth new series, comedy Partners, is still unclear. The half-hour has been a soft performer on Monday though it stabilized the last couple of weeks. Vegas stars Quaid, Michael Chiklis, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jason O’Mara, Taylor Handley and Sarah Jones. Greg Walker, Nicholas Pileggi, Cathy Konrad, Arthur Sarkissian and James Mangold are executive producers for CBS Television Studios. Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu, Aidan Quinn and Jon Michael Hill. Rob Doherty, Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly are executive producers for CBS Television Studios.

Congrats to everyone involved in Vegas
Congrats to “Vegas”, Dennis Quaid and all the cast and crew! Love this show! And I’m partial to hometown Houston actors, as I am one myself. ;0) Great job!
OHHH I love Vegas getting goodddd
Love Vegas.
Can’t watch Elementary–Lucy Liu repulses me. Preferred similar show The Mentalist on Thursdays–it has better characters/actors.
A little surprised about Vegas. Not at all surprised about Elementary which might be the stealth hit of the season.
CBS should cancel “Partners.” While I love Jim Burrows, the comedy is bringing down the entire night + CBS has two sitcoms for midseason (return of Rules of Engagement and new series, Friend Me).
Who’d like to see a CSI episode where there’s a case set at The Savoy in 2012?
Congrats for “Elementary” as well.
Congrats to Sarah and Carl and Rob on Elementary.
cbs should NOT cancel “partners”. it’s gotten better since its rather weak pilot and deserves time. they should move it to Thursdays after “big bang” and return “two and a half men” to its former slot to shore up the night.
Cancel Partners and put in Friend Me.
Critics have been so-so, but I like Vegas! Nice departure from the usual CBS procedural. Love the clash of a ’60s Vegas mafia story with a good ol’ cowboy tale a la Justified or Longmire. Good that America is responding favorably!
I gave up on “Partners.” It’s terrible, and it has to be embarrassing for everyone involved.
Hey, DISH, stop the SPAM campaign you have going on every single TV blog in existence!
I’m not surprised at the renewals. CBS has absolutely no competition in the 10 pm hour this fall on those two nights, so they might as well keep their two lowly rated new shows despite their demo numbers.
RENEW Partners! I love it!
Congrats for Vegas !
Cancel Partners and beg the Martin Lawrence sitcom instead.
C’mon CBS you are supposed to be the leader of all the networks so lets have alot more variety out there. Get your act together and keep the fabulous VEGAS on the schedule for us “mature audiences”. We really LOVE it!!! Too many flops in reality/comedy.
congrats vegas love the show!
I love Vegas. Should be on Thursday night when there is nothing else on except ABC Scandal at 10:00. Also Golden Boy is very entertaining. Should be given another season.
