EXCLUSIVE: In his first major U.S. TV role, Irish actor Eoin Macken has landed the lead in the hourlong NBC pilot After Hours. The Sony TV project, written/executive produced by Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah and to be directed by Pierre Morel, revolves around the graveyard shift in the ER at San Antonio Medical Center. It centers on TC Callahan (Macken), who has returned from the Army to practice his unorthodox brand of medicine, often butting heads with his superiors. Macken is repped by ICM Partners, Magnolia Entertainment and Troika in the UK.

Another hospital show? Oy, someone stick a needle in me. Enough.
The new broadcast season is crashing and burning all around, and what do I see here every day? More shows that sound exactly like the same shows reported this time last year. And the ones that are flopping are the ones that made it through the process. Maybe it’s time for broadcast to get off the cop/doc/lawyer/sitcom merry go round.
The audience is BORED! Do Nielsens need to go into negative numbers before Hollywood gets the message? This reminds me of Detroit, churning out badly made gas guzzling clunkers long after it became obvious it was the road to oblivion.
Love him as Gwaine on Merlin, congrats to Eoin!
yeah for Stef Comer.
Gwaine!!!
I can agree with the first half of this comment, but what I don’t understand is how insulting a few million people who have nothing to do with the original post has any relevancy. Blaming the collective “Detroit” makes it clear you have no understanding of what the real root of the problem is, and by bringing it up here, it sounds like you were just looking for an excuse to air your own personal gripes. Not cool.
Anyhow, as much as the idea of another medical show makes me groan with boredom, I wish it luck for Eoin’s sake. Love him as Gwaine!
I have to agree that doctor-themed shows are ho-hum for me. But I do love Eoin as Gwaine, and I know he’s got a lot of other things under his belt, so I will watch the pilot and wish him the best.
Awesome!!! Sir Gwaine from ‘Merlin’ on BBC1! he’s got the perfect balance of hardcoredness & sensitivity to play this type of character. On second thought, is it a ‘balance’ or a ‘dichotomy’??? I don’t know! But now I have to sign up for cable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait for this.
If this comes on British TV I will watch it solely for Eoin because I’m a huge fan of BBC’s Merlin and especially Gwaine. And I NEVER watch medical shows. I just hope it works, for Eoin’s sake.
Well done Eoin! Good luck but don’t forget about Merlin! ‘Cause thats where i found out who you were and what an amazing person you are! I’ll watch it for you!
He is such a wonderful person to work with…look out BBC! NBC/US may just snatch him away from you!
