Here’s the red band trailer for the reboot of Evil Dead, following yesterday’s teaser. The movie directed by Fede Alvarez stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci and Elizabeth Blackmore. Produced by the original’s Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, it opens April 12, 2013 via Sony’s TriStar label.

Now that’s how you make a modern remake! Still can’t help but worry this might be a little redundant after Cabin in the Woods.
Are you f’ing kidding me??? That looks awful. It totally misses the campy tone of EVIL DEAD 2 and ARMY OF DARKNESS which made the series popular. This just looks like a crappy bloodfest. No comedy whatsoever. This is going to suck.
The original Evil Dead isn’t a comedy, and isn’t purposefully campy. It is also what made the series popular, there’s a reason it’s the movie Nancy is watching in “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, it’s classic, gory horror.
I think the other poster has a point – the series is better known for the campy tone found in the second and third films. Most fans I know associate the series with that kind of approach – not that of the first film, which definitely was dark and scary.
It’ll be interesting to see how fans respond. It’s a solid trailer either way.

The point of Cabin in the Woods was to look just like Evil Dead.

This is what red bands are made for! The intensity here is way beyond anything ever achieved before, and has successfully generated IMMEDIATE interest in this film. Props to the trailer house and editors.
the reason it’s in Nightmare is because New Line Cinema could license the footage to themselves at the time on the CHEAP. but, yeah, it’s kind of a classic. this looks like platinum dunes version. bah.
It does look like the Platinum Dunes version. Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the theater… the reboot shark bites you in the ass. How about some more original ideas, Hollywood? Think of original material as your rebooting farm system.
