Film Independent has chosen 8 projects and 12 filmmakers for its 12th annual Producing Lab sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The foundation focuses on projects about science and technology. The intensive five-week program offers promising producers a supportive environment to help move projects into production. Projects and participants are Alaska Is A Drag (Kaz Kipp); And Then I Go (Rebecca Green, Laura D. Smith); Imperial Dreams (Katherine Fairfax Wright, Malik Vitthal); Jack of the Red Hearts (Lucy Mukerjee, Janet Grillo); Manos Sucias (Márcia Nunes, Elena Greenlee); Resonance (Katie Knab); Snow in April (Van Hayden); Unmanned (Casey Fenton, who also will receive a $25,000 development grant from the Sloan Foundation).

Kaz has been an amazing producer since the shorts “Fierce” and “Gordita”. It always feels good to see a genuinely good person diligently climb the ladder. *tips hat and raises glass*
Kaz rocks!
Kaz is also an amazing producer of false compliments for his own accomplishments under the alias Mister Miyagi.
Kaz is a woman.
I’d call you a smartass, but you’ve already proved to us that you have no association with anything “smart” at all.
Casey Fenton is an awesome producer. Definitely someone I would have confidence investing in.
Kaz is one of the most talented and diligent producers on the verge of taking this town by storm. She sets the bar. Oh, and Michael, how’s the view from jealous town?
