EXCLUSIVE: Fox has put in development All Grown Up, a single-camera comedy from British writer-directors Nat Saunders and Chris Hayward. Referred to as “Toy Story – 15 years later,” All Grown Up is a raunchy live-action comedy in the vein of Ted about a young man who gets fired, moves back in with his parents and gets back on his feet with the help of his childhood toys that come to life. Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment is executive producing through 20th Century Fox TV.
In the UK, Saunders and Hayward are probably best known for writing and directing the Misery Bear series of short films, which debuted in 2008, ran on BBC’s website and spawned a book. Before Ted, there was another stuffed teddy bear with bad habits — Misery Bear, the saddest, loneliest, most suicidal teddy bear in the whole world, a borderline alcoholic with anger-management issues. (Watch below one of the videos, which has amassed 1.3 million views.) CAA-repped Saunders and Hayward are the latest British talent that Kaplan is introducing to American TV, after bringing over Pulling‘s Sharon Horgan and Terra Nova‘s Kelly Marcel. This is the latest in a slew of sales for Kaplan this season, including several pilot production/put pilot commitments.
