The X Factor may be down from last year, but it still has been the strongest ratings performer for Fox this fall, so the network is renewing the singing competition for a third season. This is much-needed good news for creator/executive producer Simon Cowell on the heels of the botched scheduling of the show’s most recent episode and NBC’s announcement today that The Voice will go head-to-head with The X Factor with Wednesday and Thursday editions the week of November 5. “I couldn’t be happier about The X Factor already being renewed for another season,” Cowell said. “I am so proud of the show and the team who have made it this season.”
The renewal comes as the current second season of X Factor is heading into the live shows November 1, a couple of days before The Voice begins its live shows. “The gloves are off! Expect fireworks,” Cowell said of the live show. Season to date, The X Factor is averaging a 3.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 10.6 million total viewers.

question is..will they be bringing back Britney…who clearly has been worth her $15 million paycheck
has *not* been
Are you kidding me!!! Britney is terrible!! Always says the same thing and no personality at all. Demi is blowing her away!!
So is this their way of kissing Cowell’s ass now that they’ve complete derailed the show this season with these moronic scheduling issues?
I thought the same thing when I heard about the renewal. Maybe coincidental in terms of timing, clearly it was going to get renewed.
With luck, Simon will replace himself as a judge.
I am suggesting Pee Wee Herman to fill his slot. With Pee Wee the viewers won’t see much difference between Cowell and Herman. Plus, imagine how much fun it will be to see contestants competing at Pee Wee’s house.
Cowell should be happy FOX did this now before all the negative talk that will come from disastrous choice of Khloe Kardashain as co-host.
The show still doesn’t have a winning formula yet. Britney hasn’t been worth 15 million and Demi, while not as irritating as Nicole Scherzinger, really doesn’t add much. Ditch them all and start over.
Please, PLEASE tell me you’re joking about the Kardashian part. That is an absolute DISGRACE and joke to pathetic proportions if true.
X is better than last year. Voice is unwatchable.
10 million viewers is 10 million less than what Simon predicted.
So, I guess it’s actually breaking even, at the very least? Pretty surprising, but good for them.
Who cares about the judges. I just watched Lylas perform impossible and it was incredible. The talent is great and I expect the competition will be fierce. That’s what it should be about. I like that they are focusing on the contestants more this year compared to last year’s overproduced disaster.
