Here’s the new trailer for Gangster Squad which opens January 11. The original trailer was attached to some prints of The Dark Knight Rises. WB also shifted Gangster Squad to January 11 from September 7. The delay put some distance between the Aurora theater tragedy and Gangster Squad, and allowed Warner Bros to cut the offending scene and film a new version in a different setting.

What a cast… and judging from the trailer, what a disapointment. Hoping the film will be better!
Wish it was more LA Confidential and less Dick Tracy looking. What’s with the music?
Looks great. Sold.
Well they sure a note from the Baz Luhrman playbook: using current-sounding tracks instead of period music, huh? Imho, DI looks awfully milky though, set dressing is shallow, so it all looks antiseptic. This kinda pic really needs to be shot in 35mm (RIP)!
Of course, in the old days — and even as far back as ten years ago — it woulda been men acting these parts, not boys and a girl.
You are a freshman at the New York Film Academy, aren’t you?
Hahahahaha
HA! Nicely done, sir. Nicely done.
Love the meticulous attention to detail, including the fine period music by swing legends Jay-Z and His Orchestra.
The music is awful. Completely took me out of it. So distracting. Upstaged everything else.
I really wanted to see this film, and now, I don’t. AWFUL trailer. WTF Warner Bros? It looks like that lousy Hat Squad movie LEe Tamahori directed in the 80′s…also starring Nick Nolte. Bummer, cause I had high hopes for this…but um, well the trailer sucked.
This music makes me want to blow my brains out.
I am so sick of trailers being made to look and sound like expensive music videos. I hate how lazy and cliched it has become. For a period film it adds nothing, only takes away. GMAFB. Get a clue, filmmakers!
Is it supposed to look like a cartoon, a la Sin City?
I was so psyched about this movie after the first trailer, but this…
nuanced….NOT.
one note.
come on.
seriously?
is this the best they can do???
This trailer proves once and for all that story is dead.
Wowzers! That is the hippest, rockinist, outlandish, cliffhanging, tantilizing teazer/trailer I have EVER seen!!! Well done!
Hope the momentum wasn’t lost on the cut scene. trailer’s cool, but the music really throws the ‘vibe off for me. (hope they kept my scene at slapsie-maxies, when I bring the phone call to mickey cohen, Ruben did a great job directing and featured that scene) Hoping the best on the film, Ruben and Sean did their job. Hope everyone else was on the same page.
I’ve seen the latest trailer for this film in the theaters. While boasting first-rate talent, the trailer made the film look overblown, cliched, and cartoonish. In short, it left me with a negative impression of the film. (Interesting to see that others on the comment thread had corresponding impressions.) But maybe that’s the point. Perhaps the film makers are (correctly) betting that the demographic for which this film has been made is in the market for precisely this kind of entertainment.
