ICM Partners has signed Chris Colfer, the Glee star who is branching out into writing and producing. Colfer won a Golden Globe for his role as Kurt Hummel on Glee, and he has twice been nominated for an Emmy. Colfer made his feature film debut in Struck By Lightning, which he scripted and executive produced. The film premiered at Tribeca, and ICM Partners packaged the film and sold the North American rights to Tribeca Films, and international rights to Lightning Entertainment. It will be released in the U.S. later this year. Colfer is also the author of The Land Of Stories, a bestselling children’s book, and next month Little, Brown releases his first young- adult novel, Struck By Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal, an adaptation of the film. ICM will co-rep Colfer with Coast To Coast and he’s managed by Inphenate, with Rob Weisbach repping him for books.

he is done when glee is done.
I think he is aware opportunities for him are limited, which is why he’s already begun writing and directing, and clearly with Struck By Lightning, it’s already started working out for him.
Totally agree, Chris Colfer’s time in front of a camera on Glee is diminishing… I don’t think that he will have a solo in the first half of this Season of Glee… Glee itself is fighting for its survival…
He already started to spread his wings to start a career “behind the scenes” instead of “in front of the camera”… He is in the process of making a new movie but he will not play the lead in that feature…
Ha what a joke
In reply to the comment ‘he is done when glee is done’, I’d like to think that for someone who is in his early twenties and having already made such huge and fast paced changes in his career, he has a lot going for him in the future. Glee was his break out, it was his launch, it’s helped him get to where he is today. As the article says, he’s already written a best selling book AND working on another two to follow, not to mention that Struck By Lightning itself will become a book and also the fact that it’s been largely recognized and praised throughout the festivals it has been premiered at. He’s also been on tour with the Glee cast, starred in sketches, has music through Glee on itunes, he has a Golden Globe and has been nominated for so many others. For someone in his early twenties, I think that’s quite an achievement… With much more to come.
Did you not read the pay about him moving behind the camera???
I think Chris is phenomenally talented and has a bright future in front of him – if not in acting (which would be a shame, as he’s so great) but in producing and writing. sounds like a great move !
That sounds good! While I enjoyed his writing in the chidren novel I really want to see him continue acting. So much.
if he has that much upside why sign with icm?
Because if you care to read the article, you’ll find out that ICM was already involved in his movie. Also, a quick fact check will tell you he’s been repped by a youth division in a mid-level agency since when he was a kid trying out for Disney shows, and maybe, just maybe, he’s naturally outgrown them? Yeesh.
Because they might actually do work for him?
What do you mean? They have a good list of clients – look at how many people from Modern Family are with them. Chris right now is with an agency that deals with young actors. He’s getting older and needs to go somewhere bigger that doesn’t just focus on young talent, and he’s staying with his current place, too, anyway.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a HUGE Chris Colfer also crisscolfer and always a klaine shipper no matter what happens!!!!!!! I love Chris with all my hart he is a mazing he has helped so many with everything he has done he is very inspiring and i love that about him he is a great guy and yeah he has accomplished so much thats what makes him special and unique and i will always be a HUGE fan of him and I am proud of it!!!!!!!!!!!
The future Mr Ryan Murphy 2.0.
He’s probably the most talented and versatile celebrity out there at the moment.
I can’t name two actors that young who can act that well, in years to come his acting will improve more and more, if that’s possible, and I see many Academy Awards in his future.
His singing voice is probably one of the most unique and beautiful ones, that is so underrated that it shouldn’t be legal. Glee is wasting their time with all the other actors singing.
His writing is literally amazing. I’ve read TLOS and I can’t wait to read more. I’m also very excited to see SBL and pretty much anything that’s to come from his brilliant mind.
I, however, think that he should leave Glee ASAP, that is a sinking ship and we all know it. He’s so much bigger than that show and majority of it’s cast.
Which agent(s) at ICM signed him?
Lorrie Bartlett and Meredith Wechter which makes sense.
