Here’s a new trailer that Fox has released for the John Moore-directed A Good Day To Die Hard, the fifth installment of Bruce Willis as cop/reluctant hero John McClane. He’s blowing up plenty of shit here and it’s still hard to believe that this franchise works so well when the first one came out way back in 1988. That is one of a handful of films–Godfather I&II, Goodfellas, Heat and Braveheart are a few others–that I dutifully sit and watch at any point in the film if I’m flipping channels with the remote. Aside from hair, it doesn’t look like Willis’ McClane has lost much off his fastball and I’m as excited about this as I am Taken 2.

“007 of Plainfield, New Jersey”.
Love it…welcome back John McClane.
LOL! That WAS one of the best one-liners I’ve heard in awhile.

Excited for the movie… But I thought they stopped using that music for action trailers somewhere around 1989…
Uh hello… it’s a nod to the original.
This looks worse than LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD and DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE combined. I get it’s just a teaser, but seriously, you couldn’t do any better than that? Just show a bunch of sh&t blow up and they’ll come. It’s the director of MAX PAYNE and THE OMEN reboot. Great choice there studio executive – looks like you just killed a franchise by hiring a guy who couldn’t start and restart franchises.
“I get it’s just a teaser…”
Doesn’t sound like you got that at all.
Fox — please do the smart thing and let this be R. Swears and blood aside, PG-13 ratings make for incoherent action (cough…cough Taken 1 & 2) where you can’t tell what the hell is going on because the editor needs to cut around the impact/contact shots. LFODH was a success with a PG-13 rating but was panned by the fans (not bad but not DH). Sure it worked for the Bourne movies but those were specifically stylized that way. DH was born gritty R and should Die Hard a gritty R.
I understand what you’re saying However an R rating cuts off the Box office returns By as much as 30 to sometimes 50 million. So making a film rated R just so you can have a few F bombs inst worth it !!
Not really. There are plenty of high-grossing R-Rated movies out there.
Please be rated R
Agreed. “Yippi-ki-ai-Person who engages in an incestuous relationship with their maternal parent unit” just isn’t as catchy!
Yippi-ki-ai Mr. Falcon!
As much as I want this film to be good, I can’t help but feel it will disappoint like the last one. For one, its rated PG-13 and Die Hard films should NEVER be rated anything lower than an “R”.
Second, its from the director of Max Payne. I don’t know who at Fox thought that was a good idea.
Here is a wild guess…Bruce Willis has total control and approval of the director, script and most anything else he desires with the Die Hard franchise.
Trust in Willis…he won’t disappoint. Bruce Willis is well off and has a lot of choices. No matter how much Fox is paying him…Bruce did not just take a paycheck. I truly believe he cares too much about his career, this franchise, his character and his fans to take the money and run without having huge influence on this project.
Bruce Willis is John McClane…and, he knows it.
“Trust in Willis…he won’t disappoint. Bruce Willis is well off and has a lot of choices. No matter how much Fox is paying him…Bruce did not just take a paycheck.”
Huh?
Explain FIRE WITH FIRE, THE COLD LIGHT OF DAY, CATCH .44, and SETUP, please.
Willis loves paychecks. Especially DIE HARD paychecks. They have a few more zeros in them.
I really like Live Free Or Die Hard, but the unrated DVD edit with all the usual F-bombs. They must have shot it for R, then decided to try and make more money PG-13.
I hope this one is R.
“… Godfather I&II, Goodfellas, Heat and Braveheart…”
I personally would add Point Break to that list. Love that film.
Yea I dont get why they stopped making these R rated
I guess you must not be in the business, seeing teens are the age group who buys the most tickets. It’s all about gettin’ butts in the seats.
Yipee kay-yay!
In. No matter what.
Sorry but this looks like a generic action movie that would have gone straight to DVD without Willis. I know it’s only one minute maybe the final movie will be amazing but this is the 5th pic in the Die Hard franchise. The 4th one had one great action sequence at the end with the truck and the Harrier jet and one good action scene with the SUV going down the elevator shaft with the hot Asian chick on the hood.
This movie is a cash grab and nothing else why are they releasing it in the middle of winter instead of in the summer? Because it’s being used as filler they need something for that slot and this is what they have a counter-programmer for the guys to enjoy on Valentine’s Day weekend.
I will watch this when it’s on Netflix or as a $1 Red Box rental. It’s sad because I used to be a big fan of Die Hard the 2nd movie was better than the first then they went downhill.
If you don’t like this trailer, the terrorists win.
Yippy Kay Yay, motherfuckers! John McClane is as American as apple pie.
And they need to find a way to bring back Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber. I don’t care how.
I’ll see it if it’s R.
Looks good. Sold.
Did Chris Nolan direct it? I thought I was watching the trailer for Dark Knight II.
Please be rated R
Where the hell is that black guy from the first 2 movies!!!
Pretty sure he’s paralysed now… :`(
He’s in LA. Russia is not LA.
My wife will go see that with me on Valentine’s Day, no doubt.
meh… this trailer could have used a lot more owen wilson and gene hackman.
So… One more nice payday for the Rocerick Thorp estate? Or did they get cut out a long time ago?
I think it should be rated r not just so they can drop the f bomb 90 times but so we can get that old john mclain back. And there is no john mclain without a few f bombs and cause live free or die hard sucked and that was the obly pg 13 one so yea rated r all the way
