Here’s the official trailer for Jason Statham’s newest action pic Parker also starring Jennifer Lopez and Michael Chiklis. Statham plays Parker, a vengeful but honorable thief who never steals from those who need it. The film is directed by Taylor Hackford, John J. McLaughlin penned the screenplay. It’s set for release on January 25, 2013.

Statham plays the same role in every movie he makes… so how is he still entertaining. I would totally watch this… for free… on Netflix streaming. Looks like a decent OUT OF SIGHT-like role for JLo!
This is a remake of Mel Gibson’s “Payback” which was a remake of Lee Marvin’s “Point Blank” it’s one of those action movies that can be remade an infinite number of times by any tough guy actor. All versions based on the book by Donald Westlake.
It looks like it is but it’s not…This movie is based on the book FLASHFIRE not THE HUNTER…but the Westlake/Stark formula was basically the same throughout the series – Act I) Robbery Act II) Double Cross Act III) Revenge…trailer looks good
Big shoes to fill here for Statham; he’ll probably do better than Mel Gibson, but he’ll never come close to Lee Marvin.
Although for the record: it’s not actually a remake of THE HUNTER (basis for POINT BLANK and PAYBACK); it’s apparently drawing on a couple of the later books in the series.
For the record: Westlake felt that Robert Duvall in THE OUTFIT was closest to the character in the books.
This movie could be amazing, but Statham looks miscast.

It’s great to see Jlo back in a real movie. I’ve read the Parker books and this guy seem the antithesis of this character.. I’m in.

Finally, something different from Jason. This has some promise and love the sexy cowboy thing. Also Taylor Hackford raises the bar for this one

I dunno, looks pretty forgettable. Though I understand people like to pay to watch Statham movies, so I get the “why.”
Parker is a character that I’m surprised hasn’t been properly revived by the Hollywood machine. I’m talking about the mid-60′s Mad Men-style Parker. It’d be some damn stylish action/adventure fare.
Looks like a great ride. Great cast. Sexy, fun action flick…can’t wait! “I don’t drink coffee after 7″ — great line.

Point Blank will be hard to top, but I am chuffed by this cast. The scumbag wrath of Chiklis played against Statham’s no-nonsense vengeful hardman may prove combustible onscreen and at the box office. I’m fascinated by Statham. You wouldn’t think so from this type of role, but the guy might be turning into an actor and not just an action hero. J-Lo was great in Out Of Sight, but at first look anyway she seems like the weak link in the lineup. And was that Nick Nolte?
