This Friday, November 2, CBS was slated to air the episode in which Jennifer Esposito’s character Jackie Curatola is being put on a leave of absence, and the first temporary new partner for Detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg), played by Megan Ketch, is introduced. However, I hear Hurricane Sandy delayed post-production on the episode of the drama, which is based in New York. As a result, Blue Bloods will air another original on Friday, a standalone episode featuring Danny working protection detail for an infamous photographer who is a witness for Danny’s sister, prosecutor Erin Reagan-Boyle (Bridget Moynahan). Esposito does not appear in the episode (she also was not in the episode that aired last Friday). Esposito’s last episode (for now) has been rescheduled for next Friday.
In a move that has stirred controversy, Esposito was put on medical leave by Blue Bloods producer CBS TV Studios after the actress’s doctor advised her to reduce her work load from full- to part-time due to Celiac disease, a request the studio said it could not accommodate given the demands of the role. CBS left the door open for Esposito to return but in the interim, it is bringing in actresses to play revolving partners for Danny, starting with Ketch, who is filming four episodes. She will be followed by Megan Boone, who has been tapped for three episodes with a series option behind it.

What is weird about this is Esposito was not in last weeks episode. There was an agent of some sort or another officer partnered with wahlbergs character and it was a new episode. I was surprised because I knew they said nov 2nd would be her last appearance but nobody mentioned she was going to be missing from last Fridays episode even though it had not aired when the news broke.
Please do not take her off the show. The chemistry is perfect. We have watched every show. The last show which aired yesterday, 10/9/12 was missing a big part. The show was not the same and will not be worth taping every week if the main characters change. To me she was a very importunity part of the whole. I do not think I will continue to tape the show if it makes changes so quickly. I definitely did not feel the same chemistry with his new partner yesterday. I will stop watching. I do not want to, but I will. She is a very important character for females!! She is/was a very strong role model. I will not watch if she is not part of the show.
I truley AGREE with all your comments I want Jennifer to come back! CBS for heaven’s sake have a heart! You can bet your butt that CBS would give Tom Selleck what He wanted or anyone else on that show. Jen. you hang tuff Girl.. and friends give CBS Hell and Bring our Lady back! Beautiful Woman!!!!!!!!! I’m sorry to hear she has to deal with that illness… Love her I remember watching her on Spin City!
My husband and I agree the show was not as good without Jennifer Esposito character. The chemistry with her partner (Danny)can’t be replace. The other female cop did not play the part that well. Jennifer acts the part of being a true New Yorker.
I too love to chemistry between the two detectives and also will NO LONGER WATCH THIS SHOW or any show on this network!! I will be posting this everyday to make sure no one else will watch the Network either. Replacing her was a big mistake! But to let her go due to her illness is NOT EXCEPTABLE! I thought this was America and we are not allowed to discriminate…..Her illness is not her fault. It is like a handicap and America is not suppose to discriminate against handicapped or ill people.
Please join me and stop watching CBS till they get educated on the health of the people who bring them there $$$$$$
Ms Esposito should retain counsel and sue the bastards for discrimination! What is S.A.G doing for her. She makes the regans look good. Come on Mr Sellick and blue bloods producer don’t u think some of your ratings come from Jennifer’s sexy mannerisms?
It is not the same without Jennifer Esposito, even if she comes back part time, it would be better than not at all! There is chemistery, that the sow does not have with other actresses. When a person says they are sick, and backs it up, the company (any company) should work with that person!
The show will suffer in the ratings without Esposito. She and Danny are great together. This is one of the best shows on tv, don’t ruin it. Give her as much or as little as she can handle. You will benefit greatly in the long run.
ah hell no don’t take her off I really like this girl .We have a bunch of really horrible shows now that is stupid and uninteresting so now you gotta scerw with the goods,,, soon i will get rid of all local channels so i will not have to atch any of this crap
So cbs can’t accommodate Jennifer’s Celiac disease. I guess they don’t care. I love her character. This would be a good opportunity for cbs to bring attention to this health problem and show that they care enough to help. Very disappointed in CBS
I also can’t believe Jennifer is being forced out. I love her and love her character. Do you think she would be written out if she had a cancer diagnosis? Nooooooooooooo. I wish someone at CBS would do some research on Celiac and maybe show some compassion and find a way to work it out.
Please don’t take her off the show. We liked her a whole lot.
I really admire Jennifer. She’s perfect for the role. CBS work with her and this problem. Blue Bloods is the best show on TV MO
Just like Zaslow being fired from guiding light for his disease
No way…….Jackie and Danny are my favorite characters of the whole show. They are so good together.
It’s all the partners of Jamie that they need to get rid of. Come on CBS. I have really missed Esposito the last two weeks!
Bring back Jennifer Esposito or ruin a great show!!!!!!!!! CBS has a lot of nerve.
I will miss her in the show. I am also disappointed with CBS for their decision. CELIAC’ S disease is very real and uncomfortable, not to mention embarrassing at times. CBS could have enlightened the public about this disease and gluten free diet/foods. They could have made it a positive instead of a negative.
I really miss Jennifer Esposito on the show, not but two or three good shows left on TV and Blue Bloods is one of them, but Esposito helped make it so. I would think CBS could work with her and not throw her under the bus.
It is a shame that CBS didn’t see an opportunity to educate the public about Celiac disease, which afflicts approximately twenty-percent of the population. Celiac is a chronic auto-immune disease, which can cause fatigue and other health problems. It’s too bad, as CBS really missed the boat on this one. I think I’ll watch the 10′oclock news on Friday nights, instead of Blue Bloods, going forward. Shame on you..CBS.
Are you kidding me! We have been true fans of Blue Bloods partly due to Esposito’s character. It can’t be all about the Regans all the time. Love her. Strong woman who takes no crap. You need her. Don’t be stupid or short sighted. Please work it out.
I agree; such a shame that CBS can’t accomodate. They could educate about the disease and make fans happy at the same time. Jennifer is a great actress and her role as Jackie completes the show. Shame on CBS. Accomodate the woman! Someone start a petition.
Blue Bloods is by far my favorite show. I too love Esposito’s character. And it would be terrible if she weren’t allow to return. CBS could highlight this disease & make it possible for her to return back.
Hello? People did you READ the article? She’s NOT fired, she’s on medical leave & they said she can come back when able (that’s what “left the door open for her means). She’s still being paid & is not “canned”
She is not being paid but barred by contract for working for anyone else, that’s the shame of it.
CBS has those infomertials that CBS Cares. But in this instance not so much. They totallly dropped the ball, or is it that they only care when it doesn’t effect their bottom line. Please bring Ms. Esposito back. Her character has a great relationship with Donny Wahlbergs’. Prove that you do what you say.
Please wake up CBS –we LOVE Jennifer. The show is not the same without her. Why are you ruining a good thing?? The story lines on a few shows this season have been less than than stellar and now this? This WAS my favorite show!
Shame on CBS! Air a show centered around Celiac disease and inform the viewing audience of this disease. Many other programs work with individuals who have diseases and work in accordance with their abilities and schedules so why can’t CBS? Shame, Shame on You!!!!!
I just watched the episode in which Jackie left. The actress that replaced her for this episode had no chemistry with Danny and I don’t think any actress that CBS brings in will have the same chemistry that Donnie and Jennifer have.. If CBS really “cares” they would work with Jennifer and her illness!!
i hope they have some compassion and bring her back. She’s great. The replacement actresses don’t have that grit that is needed for a NYC cop. I miss Jennifer’s character. Blue Bloods is a great show, but is lacks the dimension that Donny and Jennifer give it
Jennifer Esposito has Celiacs Disease, some of the effects being reduced energy levels and difficulty digesting glutens (yes, I am simplifying terribly, so don’t shoot) … Why can’t her character have Celiacs? Couldn’t `Jackie Curatola’ still work for the NYPD, and with `Danny Reagan’ from a desk, or in TARU or some other more technical side of the NYPD … maybe even intelligence? That would lessen Ms. Esposito’s workload and keep her on the show … and it would explain the leave witnessed in tonights episode. So, what do you think? An idea maybe …
I wouldn’t watch the show without Jennifer. While I love the show and ALL the characters, I wouldn’t feel right supporting a show or a tv station that would treat someone like that. CBS, you still have a chance to do the right thing. Keep Jennifer!
I agree w/ kathy. Jennifer is one of few believable Strong female caracteres on tv. Work it out. CBS. Hey tom. Dont let your show down. Fight to keep Jennifer
Wow I am a big fan of CBS programs. They are truly the most watched network. Why in the world would they even consider screwing up ” Blue Bloods”. Jennifer’s character is so important to the story line. She keeps Danny in check. She has a disease that can be controlled and CBS treats her like this? Bring her back please..
I am so saddened & Miss & Miss Esposito. I wondered for the last two weeks why she was not on the show.
Dannt & Jackie are so good together on Blue Bloods. You really cannot get any better chemistry than that. We just love her on the show. She brings so much to the character.
You have had two different females on they just don’t work there is no chemistry.
Please reconsider & help Miss Esposito deal with her illness. Doesn’t CBS really care about her & what is happening to her life.
At least that is what your commercial says. She is a very talented aactress, you will never get the chemistry that Donny & Jennifer bring to the show.
Vicki
I agree with the all the comments. Love Jennifer’s character, her strength, directness, etc. She also looks good. Great matchup with Danny. Has anymore been said by CBS on the leave of absence?
Bring back Jennifer — if only for parttime. She and Danny work so well together……….really did not like the girl last night. I am sure the network could write Jennifer in for fewer scenes…………she cannot help it because she has a terrible, painful disease. Bring back Jackie!!!!!
