This Friday, November 2, CBS was slated to air the episode in which Jennifer Esposito’s character Jackie Curatola is being put on a leave of absence, and the first temporary new partner for Detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg), played by Megan Ketch, is introduced. However, I hear Hurricane Sandy delayed post-production on the episode of the drama, which is based in New York. As a result, Blue Bloods will air another original on Friday, a standalone episode featuring Danny working protection detail for an infamous photographer who is a witness for Danny’s sister, prosecutor Erin Reagan-Boyle (Bridget Moynahan). Esposito does not appear in the episode (she also was not in the episode that aired last Friday). Esposito’s last episode (for now) has been rescheduled for next Friday.
In a move that has stirred controversy, Esposito was put on medical leave by Blue Bloods producer CBS TV Studios after the actress’s doctor advised her to reduce her work load from full- to part-time due to Celiac disease, a request the studio said it could not accommodate given the demands of the role. CBS left the door open for Esposito to return but in the interim, it is bringing in actresses to play revolving partners for Danny, starting with Ketch, who is filming four episodes. She will be followed by Megan Boone, who has been tapped for three episodes with a series option behind it.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Keep her on the show, however limited! Jennifer is my favorite character. I believe Bluebloods will lose viewers without her. Come on!!!
Keep her on the show. That is crazy to say they can’t work with her. They have worked around stranger things. She is so great!!! Bring her back quickly!!!!!!
I agree with most of the comments. I agree we should start a petition. The show will not be the same without Jennifer. The chemistry between her and Danny is awsome. The blonde they had on last night was awful. Blue Bloods used to be one of my favorite shows. Bring Jennifer back fast! And to correct something that was posted earlier, she is on “unpaid leave of absense” not paid.
Bring back Jennifer Esposito or ruin a great show!!!!!!!!!
Bring back Jennifer SOON!!! Blue Bloods was the best show on tv. Jennifer helped make it that….
So much for “CBS cares”, need to find a new brand. How lame can you be? Esposito is perfect for the part-bring her back!!! The chemistry was spot on.
I pray that Ms Espisito’s celiac will improve, but I am disappointed that it can’t be accomodated. How sad that CBS doesn’t seem to care about a vital character on Blue Bloods
Jennifer Esposito & Donnie Wahlberg, they make Blue Bloods the hit it is! Letting her go is an insult! What’s wrong with u people! Once u start messing w a good thing, it’s over!!! That’s it for me (& several friends), NO MORE BLUE BLOODS
Hoping CBS and Espisito work out their differences. She’s a big part of the show’s appeal and a perfect counterpart to Wahlburg’s character.
Please keep Jennifer on ,even if just part time . Watching her and Donny work together is so good.please listen to the fans
The Blue Bloods big wigs & CBS KNEW of her health issues BEFORE she was hired. She let them know & said it sometimes causes her to take needed breaks. Jennifer E. is a MUST as Dannys partner!!!!!! Dont screw up a good thing. What would cbs do if she had diabetes?
I haven’t missed a show. I love the cast, ALL of them. They are a great ensemble, Jennifer included. Please add my name to the list of people who don’t want to see her go. Also, I think that CBS is being unfair in her treatment because of the Celiac disease. I cannot believe they can’t accommodate her working a little less. Shame on them!
Find a way to keep jennifer the chemistry between the two detectives is irreplaceable.
Bring back Jennifer. The show will not be the same without her. She and Walberg have great chemistry. Don’t like the new girl. Please bring back Jennifer.
As a lifelong New Yorker, I think Jennifer portrays a wonderful empowered woman, female cop and the dynamic of her and Donny is beyond duplication. We so enjoy watching the show and what better way to portray the human element of a tough cop, by incorporating her disease into the show. I hope CBS listens to the viewers and takes a creative look in making it work for her. What a way for a show to portray the higher ground! Hope it unfolds better than the replacements.. No chemistry, falls flat.
I hope she comes back, have always liked her and really like the chemistry between her and Danny. BRING JENNIFER BACK…even part-time is better than no time
Please bring Jennifer back. Loved the chemistry. Not the same without her. I just love the show.
Please bring back Jennifer Esposito! She is great in her role and in her partnership with Donnie Wahlberg’s character. The show is really suffering in her absence. Please bring her back!!!
Has CBS heard of the Americans with Disabilities Act or the Rehabilitation act? Unless it is an undue hardship, which this wouldn’t be, they have to accommodate her. They could easily write a smaller part into the show for her rather than forcing a lay off. Bad move CBS!
I just found this info on jennifer after i missed her not being on the show thr last few weeks. She is a great actress who brings flavor & another dimension to the show. I have afriend who has this disease. Once she gets it inder control thru diet she will be able to do a lot better and should be able to return if cbs will let &i supply her eith the right food on set. Come on cbs step up to the plate and do the right thing.
I, like the others who have commented are extremely disappointed. Jennifer is an amazing role model and asset to the show. Blue Bloods will not be the same. Best show on television right now,, please have a heart CBS!!! I do not like the new partner at all!!!
Jennifer Esposito & Donnie Wahlberg have great chemistry as actors on Blue Bloods. I can definitely say that CBS had made a bad decision by taking Jennifer off the show for having celiac disease. This will only make the fans turn the channel off on Friday nights and CBS will fall behind in their ratings before they realize the mistake they are making!! Don’t punish someone for having this disease if they are up for the challenge!! Stay strong Ms Esposito:)
is a great actress, so therefore she needs to stay! No questions about it!
CBS – Shame on you…..
Bring Jennifer back to Blue Bloods CBS. She is the best partner for Danny. Their chemistry works well on the screen. I think you really need to make an exception and keep her around for a long time. These fill in partners are boring and almost make me want to turn the channel. Come on CBS listen to the fans!!!
