After fielding a slew of pilot orders over the years and recently doing a guest arc on Aaron Sorkin’s HBO drama The Newsroom, Oscar winner Jane Fonda has attached herself to a comedy in development at ABC. Titled Now What?, it was written on spec by Abby Gewanter (Pushing Daisies). According to Variety, which first reported the project, Now What? stars Fonda as a mother moving in with her daughter after the daughter publicly criticizes her in a blog post entitled “Dear Mom, Here’s Why I Hate You…” The concept sounds somewhat like a female version on CBS’ $#*! My Dad Says, with both featuring showy starring roles for actors over 70, a rarity on TV. Scott Ellis is attached to direct as well as executive produce with Mike Tollin. While she has won awards mostly for her drama feature performances, Fonda also has done a number of comedies, including Barbarella, Fun With Dick And Jane, 9 To 5, and Monster-In-Law.

This is so exciting! I love me some Jane Fonda!
Love me some Hanoi Jane. Hope it’s gonna be picked up.
Talk about box-office poison…
Thats Jennifer Lopez !
- Jane is good in comedy. She was great in Monster -in -law
Does Hollywood not understand how much people in the rest of the country hate Jane Fonda?
Seriously, Jane Fonda?
Will never, ever, ever in a million years, never watch a second of anything with her in it. Ever. I can hear the boycotts now.
Cancelled after three episodes…
Someone’s still living in the past… Time to move on! We have 21st century, dear!
I’m a huge fan, but this seems an inglorious way to top off an amazing and important film career – doubtful she needs the money. Look what happened to Sally Field!
Hollywood has definitely lost their marbles. They live in a different world. Jane Fonda is a traitor to this country and I will never forgive her for what she did to our POW’s in Viet Nam.
I will personally be involved in any boycotts that materialize on this show. She has no talent either , so I wont have to work to hard to see this one fail. Have you seen Barberella?
