EXCLUSIVE: Julia Roberts is reuniting with longtime collaborator Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas for Taming Of The Shrew, a half-hour workplace comedy, which has sold to ABC. Roberts’ Red Om Films, 3 Arts, where Goldsmith-Thomas is a manager-producer, and ABC Studios are producing the project, which is not related to the classic William Shakespeare play. Written by Marc Hyman (Meet The Fockers), the ABC comedy follows a tyrannical CEO and the office staff who try to tame her. Hyman, Roberts and Goldsmith-Thomas executive produce, with Red Om principals Lisa Gillan and Marissa Yeres Gill serving as producers.
This marks the first TV development season for Goldsmith-Thomas since joining 3 Arts last fall. Her relationship with Roberts goes back 23 years to the time she was Roberts’ agent at ICM, guiding her career to global stardom. Goldsmith-Thomas then ran Revolution Studios East, supervising films under Roberts’ production deal there. The two have produced together two American Girl films, An American Girl Adventure for the WB and the theatrical Kit Kittredge: An American Girl. Roberts and Goldsmith-Thomas also executive produced the CBS series Queens Supreme.

Ah, the irony…..
Will season 1 end with a public spanking?
Maybe if elaine is back in julia’s life she’ll do a movie that people will see again. Go back to your roots jlulia fiona roberts and do a rom/com or thriller or something better than fireflies or eat pray love. a fan from before
Um, when was Elaine not in Julia’s life? During all the Kitt Kittridge stuff? During Mona Lisa Smile? Nope, she was producer on all of them.
I hated eat pray love. I know it made money but it was crap due to ryan murphy. Why does she work with him? How about soderburgh?
Mike O’Malley was the only good thing about that movie. I really hope he gets a show this year, because I heard Family Album and Prodigy/Bully were both great, and both got rejected in consecutive seasons.
“It made money”? Actually it cost 60 million and only made 80 million. Probably lost the studio 20.
Ok- I may be the only one- but I love Eat- pray -Love.No idea why , but I did think it was better than a lot of other crap out there
I loved Eat Pray and for your information it did over $200 million at the box office. I do agree that she needs to go back to her roots and do the romantic comedies that everyone wants to see her in. Erin Brockovich was a rarity but it was good as well. She’s like Jim Carrey, whenever they stray from what their particular audience wants, they get punished by no box office sales.
really great team. really great idea. really excited to see the show-sounds hysterical.
This is sure to be a BIG hit – especially w Juila starring!
uh..why call it Taming of the Shrew if it has nothing to do with Shakespeare’s play? Couldn’t they come up with a title? Weird.
Go EGT!!!! Excited to see this!
That meets the sniff test. It really sounds like a hit between. It certainly has all of the right ingredients, on paper, for becoming a hit.
