EXCLUSIVE: The Mentalist creator/executive producer Bruno Heller and the series’ executive producers Ashley Gable and Tom Szentgyorgyi have set up a new crime drama at CBS. Titled Murder Bitches, it centers on two young female detectives who are complete opposites, their relationship made more complicated by the fact that one of them suffered a stroke two years ago at age 27. They’re known on the force, in admiration and envy, as the Murder Bitches. Gable and Szentgyorgyi will write the script and executive produce with Heller. Mentalist producer Warner Bros TV, where Heller is under an overall deal, is producing.
Gable joined The Mentalist right after the pilot and was on it for the first four seasons, the last two as an executive producer. She currently serves as a consulting producer on the new CBS/CBS TV Studios drama Vegas.
Szentgyorgyi came on board Mentalist as a co-executive producer at the beginning of the second season and has been an executive producer since the beginning of Season 3. This is Heller’s second project for CBS this season. He is writing and executive producing legal drama The Advocates, also from Warner Bros TV, which has received a pilot production commitment.

“Murder Bitches”? Seriously?
If by “had a stroke” you mean slept with one of the members of The Strokes, then I am totally on-board!!!!
Those dudes are smoking hot, and I could understand that kind of naughty-business complicating the relationship of any female cop partnership.
hee hee hee! I love that.
Yeah, she’s 27 and had a stroke… because using a woman of normal stroke age would just not be cool.
And with a title like that, shouldn’t it be on the animal channel? Maybe have Marmaduke as their cop captain.
I love that this is Peter, Susan, Clancy, CBS and Hellers idea of edgy.
27 and had a stroke? That’s because it would offend him to see someone older, female with a stroke. He likes to cast young, beautiful, vacuous girls with large breasts who can act like all guys are the same in the dark. It’s a great acting trick when you’re in your 20′s with everything to gain and nothing to lose.
Really not a fan of that name. I wonder what CBS will change it to. (Hopefully it’ll be better than Baby Big Shot –> Made in Jersey.)
Ashley Gable is one of the truly nice and talented people in this business. Great to see someone with both of those qualities shine. Outstanding!
The name itself will draw attention. Interested to see who will be cast.
It’ll be called Chick Cops by the time is airs.
well, I hope they hire better writers than The Mentalist has.
The very first episode was so good and it has been downhill ever since. I tuned in yesterday to give it one more chance because Simon Baker is so damn cute… last chance.. I just wish Red John would kill the lot of them already…
They’re changing this title, right? No way CBS lets it go to air like this, especially considering foreign syndication. You think Indonesia is gonna air a show called “Murder Bitches”?
Wow. That’s all I can say is … wow.
What I like most about this pitch is that the two detectives are described as “complete opposites”. Such a refreshing, innovative take on the genre.
With these two at odds, I’m hoping there’s some scissor action or I’m out.
It’s exciting to see CBS experiment with the crime procedural drama. The creativity and innovation at CBS is how they are able to stay so relevant and keep those younger viewers tuning in.
A cop show on TV? I was hoping we’d get one more of those!
Listen from the title it tells you, mind game. So buckle up and focus your mind on Simon Baker …..duh…
