UPDATE: 5:20 PM: The First Lady is at a fundraiser this evening at New York’s ornate 583 Park Avenue with actors who have played the President or First Lady on the big or small screen, according to White House Pool Reports. Michelle Obama spoke to about 350 guests. “Several famous actors watched from an upstairs balcony: Chris Rock, James Earl Jones, Blair Underwood, Cynthia Nixon, Sam Waterson, Cherry Jones, Geena Davis, and Jeffery Wright Mike Nichols stood and watched from behind the last row of chairs,” said the pool
PREVIOUSLY, 11:30 AM: The First Lady will make her first appearance on ABC’s late-night show on Thursday. The Jimmy Kimmel Live visit comes the same day Michelle Obama will attend a campaign fundraiser at Will Smith’s house in LA. Tickets for that event range from $2,500-$40,000. The appearance with Kimmel, who hosted this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, also comes a week after she appears on Live With Kelly and Michael, which is being taped today in NYC. The First Lady has been a bit of ratings magnet of late: Her appearance with President Obama on The View last month pulled in the show’s highest ratings in months. Her appearance with Olympian Gabby Douglas on The Tonight Show in August gave Leno’s show a six-month ratings high.

Will she talk about her inappropriate and undignified clapping at the debate last night? What is most disgraceful is not just that she broke the rules, but that she was applauding during the discussion of a security failure that left four Americans dead including our ambassador. Shame on her.
Dude, first of all, she wasn’t applauding the tragdey. She was applauding lying Mitt getting caught by the moderator by not telling the truth about what Obama said after the attack. FLOTUS, like many in the auditorium, also applauded that moment in which lies took a back seat to the truth.
Second, don’t try to spin this into something it’s not. That’s the only thing folks like you are good at. And it doesn’t work. Didn’t work for Romney last night, and it won’t work for you on this board. The real winner last night was not Obama, but the truth. The truth came out and supported Obama. Don’t blame Crowley the ref. Blame Mitt the twitt.
She clapped because someone finally called Romney out on his distortions and corrected him with the truth. You should have heard the cheer in the auditorium as well as the applause. And to suggest that she was applauding the tragedy is beyond the pale.
