Mike Vogel and Nestor Carbonell have joined the cast of A&E’s upcoming series Bates Motel, which serves as a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock horror classic Psycho, in recurring roles. The series examines the twisted relationship between serial-killer-to-be Norman (Freddie Highmore) and his mother Norma (Vera Varmiga). Carbonell will play Sheriff Royce Romero, who has something almost sinister about him. Vogel will play Deputy Zach Shelby, described as “a completely engaging, attractive, intelligent sociopath.”
Bradley Whitford, Eric Edelstein and Maile Flanagan have been cast for arcs on the Showtime dramedy Shameless. Whitford will play Abraham, a powerful, well-dressed, sophisticated gay man who is a political activist. Edelstein, repped by UTA and 3 Arts, will play Bobby Mallison, a seemingly benign and polite manager of a grocery store who makes utterly shameless demands on his female employees. Flanagan, repped by Bauman Redanty & Shaul and manager Miriam Milgrom, will play Connie, the Mid-Western co-worker at a company where Fiona (Emmy Rossum) goes to work.
