EXCLUSIVE: NBC has put in development a comedy project from Parks And Recreation writer-producer Alan Yang and the series’ co-creator/executive producer Greg Daniels. The untitled comedy, from Universal TV and Daniels’ Deedle Dee Prods, centers on a strict “Tiger Dad” who, after a near-death experience, tries to reprogram his super-responsible son to be more like his fun-loving immature roommates. Yang will write the script and executive produce with Deedle Dee’s Daniels and Tracy Katsky and 3 Arts’ Howard Klein.
Daniels has been a long-time champion of Yang, who’s admitted he was about to quit writing when he landed his first staff writer gig on Parks And Recreation, where he has risen to supervising producer. Last year, Yang took a stab at TV development with an animated comedy at NBC, which also was executive produced by Daniels. Yang’s first feature, Gay Dude, recently wrapped with Parks & Rec standout Nick Offerman as one of the stars. This marks Deedle Dee’s second sale this season, along with another comedy at NBC starring The Office regular Craig Robinson and written by the show’s supervising producer Owen Ellickson. Yang and Daniels are with WME.

Yang has a mad handle on the court.
Congrats to Alan! He was the valedictorian of our high school class and managed a perfect SAT score of 1600. We knew he could literally “write” his own ticket in life and he has proven himself to be quite successful. Despite always being the smartest guy in the room, he was always approachable and never boasted needlessly of his talents like some of our fellow peers.
Trust me. At Harvard, he became the opposite of all those things.
Yay, Alan!!! Congrats! Great dude.
Happy for Alan. Very funny guy. Well deserved.
Finally a couple of guys from Harvard getting a(nother) break in Hollywood.
Sounds like Mouse Rat is gonna need a new bassist. Congrats Alan!
So excited to see more Asian American stories being shared!
