A scene in an upcoming TV movie that depicted Mitt Romney appearing to oppose the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden was cut from the film, according to a report in the New York Times. “We wouldn’t air this if it were propaganda,” said National Geographic Channel President Howard T. Owens who said he had insisted upon removal of the scene from Seal Team Six: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden. It’s scheduled to air November 4, two days before the election. Cutting the Romney scene wasn’t the only change. The Times said the movie has been edited to highlight President Obama’s role. Director John Stockwell said Obama was always in the movie but his screen time had shrunk. Longtime Obama supporter Harvey Weinstein bought rights to the movie earlier this year at Cannes. Weinstein, Stockwell and others told the Times that changes were not politically motivated but were intended to make it more realistic. The additional Obama footage came from material collected by Meghan O’Hara, a producer who worked with Michael Moore on Fahrenheit 9/11 and Sicko.

L O L at adding more Obama not being propaganda!
Please try not to judge the film until you’ve seen it.
It’s true both Romney and John McCain opposed going into Pakistan to look for Bin Laden. They were both against this in the 2008 campaign. Hillary Clinton was also against it only Obama advocated it and he was made fun of they said “this shows he’s not qualified to be president he doesn’t know how to work with our allies you can’t go into a sovereign country like Pakistan and accuse them of hiding Bin Laden” but the truth is Pakistan has never been an ally of ours they are a very bad country.
Ok, so Harvey Weinberg bought a TV movie (is it his first TV movie ever?) but he’s claiming no political agenda? ho ho ho.
And the film was re-edited to bolster Obama, too.
Harvey sure is desperate these days. Tub thumping a direct to video movie he bought? How the mighty have fallen!
Shame on Nat Geo Channel. I’ll be writing to their advertisers. And just try to imagine the outrage if some Romney valentine– produced by, say, Shelson Adelson or Karl Rove–were schedule to air on a supposedly mainstream and non-political cable channel, two days before the election.
Are you just as outraged that the Obama documentary is being aired as a “Free Movie Special” by Armstrong Utilities in several of the swing states in what is unarguably a political move by a large Republican donor?
It’s the simple fact they say it is not political. We know both movies playing are political moves from both sides. Does Nat Geo really think we are that stupid?
I’m not denying that the National Geographic movie may be political, but you can’t be outraged about one and not the other without being hypocritical.
Will it highlight the fact that Obama commit crimes by going into Pakistan without their permission? Romney said he would have done the same thing which makes him just as bad.
The left was bashing Bush for many years for committing crimes(rightfully so) but when the President has a D next to his name it is perfectly okay I guess.
This nation hasn’t issued a declaration of war since 1942. People will just shrug at one instance of violating Pakistan’s sovereignty, especially when it’s the mission to get Osama bin Laden. Besides, how many years of Pakistani government complicity with Al Qaeda are we supposed to put up with while respecting their precious airspace? The government can’t control the tribal regions. The ISI and the military are entangled with seriously bad people all over the region. The quasi-theocratic justice system is rife with corruption and ineptitude. If bin Laden had been hiding in Toronto, sure, let’s make a courtesy call to the Canadians. Pakistan? No way.
So you’re equating a cross border raid that took several hours with a ground war that lasted nearly a decade and was based on false pretenses… Got it.
So you are ignoring someone else law just because you want something? Just like Bush did basically. Talk about the tea pot calling the kettle black.
It’s not the same thing and you know it.
Bush spearheaded an invasion a sovereign without due cause, in large part, to be able to secure their oil production, and spent trillions of dollars, which caused over 100,000 deaths, including over 4,000 US military deaths. Obama agreed to a covert military operation that resulted in the death of the most wanted terrorist in the world and the man responsible for thousands of deaths and the head of the most dangerous terrorist organization in the world, and no military personnel. They were in and out of the country in just a few hours.
No, it’s when the president has a B next to his race. The D is just the convenient excuse.
This ‘Obama killed Bin Laden’ stuff is ridiculous. He killed no one. He did what any sensible person would do when provided detailed intelligence from people far smarter than he. And unless he is a SEAL in his spare time, all he did was watch. We are all happy Bin Laden is dead, but Obama is getting way, way too much credit.
You clearly don’t know Romney, McCain and Clinton’s position on going into Pakistan without permission.
He gets a lot of credit because he ordered the strike against almost all of his advisors advice. That takes big fat brass ones and shows that he knows how to make the tough decision, even when it could seriously backfire against him if it goes wrong (ex. Somalia 1993).
The president is the one that issues the order. General’s get recognition for arrangin and organizing and the troops get medals and in most cases promotions. They all get recognized on some level.
Now, compare that to Mittens who can’t make up his mind about anything.
Mitt HAS made up his mind. It’s to flip flop on any issue that’ll make him look good. See, you’re wrong. His mind’s made up.
Oh, you mean like Obama flip flopping on gay marriage during an election year only after George Clooney and celebs throw a $40 million dollar fundraiser for him? He was against it in 2008.
How about we make a movie about Libya and then highlight Obama and his camp lying constantly about it?
This movie was so Hollywood it stunk. We watched part of it and realized it was shown to boost Obama’s election. Now when is a movie about his negligence in the Libya murders coming out?
Couldn’t agree more.
i saw both versions of the film. Stockwell’s version which DID NOT have Obama in it and the version Harvey did. It’s a joke and an insult to Stockwell, Voltage and the cast. Stockwell is afraid to say anything neg. about Harvey so he states a lie that Obama was in the first draft. Kathleen Robertson’s character got bigger because Harvery added two navel seals in his version that never existed to basically narrate the story. This new movie is terrible. It’s a political ad for Obama and like all the other ads for Obama it’s a crock of shit and a lie. The movie and the timing to kill Obama is just a bit too convenient.
Forgive me if I don’t believe someone who posts anonymously that they’ve seen the movie.
Funny though how you guys weren’t saying that about the Obama movie that was nothing but lies that was released and OH YEAH, is now available on all On Demand platforms for viewing. Nothing political about that one..no siree..
Good. Obama can never not get enough credit. It was him that bin Laden got taken out. His call. His desire as commander in chief to move thy back to the forefront. He had great people carrying out his orders but he made it happen. Republicans agree that and try to take/spin it away but they can’t anymore than then they can spin Iraq being a good idea to go to war with.
So you are fine with him breaking Pakistan law by taking out Bin Laden?
You’re really reaching for criticism here. Bin Laden was not only responsible for the deaths on 9/11, but for heading the most dangerous terrorist organization in the world. You think Obama shouldn’t have gone after him when he had the chance? Just out of interest, would you have had the same reaction if the President who had given the order was Republican?
As I have said in another post it doesn’t matter if Romney or Obama made this decision. It was illegal and a crime. The left bashed Bush for committing crimes but nothing when Obama does more than once.
Frankly that is the problem with the two party partisan hacks. Neither of them from either party give a damn about the constitution.
Are you saying it was illegal in the US? Not sure how.
And if Bush agreed to a covert operation to take out Saddam, I don’t think anyone would have complained. The problem people have is that he dragged the US into an 8 year war that they justified with EXTREMELY sketchy intelligence that turned out to be false (and a large number of countries never bought in the first place).
Pakistan law? Are you kidding? First of all, reading detailed accounts of the events that led to Bin Laden’s death, Obama is entitled to a great deal of credit. He made crucial decisions that resulted in the mission being a success. Like sending in a SEAL team, rather than using a drone, or bombing the area.
Second, George Bush gave up the hunt for Bin Laden – and went public to say he wasn’t important. Obama made the hunt for Bin Laden a national security priority. He deserves the credit.
Third, the issue of Pakistani law. Are you high? What US President would give a damn about the law of any nation upon learning the location of the world’s most wanted fugitive? A man directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of US citizens. If Bin Laden had been hiding out in London, any President worth his salt would have done exactly the same thing. Look at what’s happened with Julian Assange or Abu Hamza. Eight years to extradite Abu Hamza from a friendly country? You seriously think extradition was an option with Bin Laden? Particularly from a borderline hostile country like Pakistan. The moment the State Department would have issued an extradition request, Bin Laden would have vanished into the wind. Get real.
This. Perfect post. Only reason we didn’t tell Pakistan is because we can’t trust them. If it were any of our “trustworthy” allies then we would have informed them and probably worked with their local authorities.
And, I don’t care what anyone says. The republicans would have had orgasms if it was a Republican president who ordered the attack and it succeeded. YEEEEEEEHAAAAAA!!!
Uh, yes. Osama Bin Laden is dead. Victory for all.
LOL. Pakistan has laws? LOL. If – and I say IF – Pakistan has laws they mean absolutely nothing ’cause for a law to be credible it must be enforced. It’s leaders are pussies, afraid of acting against the bad guys. Keep up the good work Obama and hope you have four more years to nail some more bastards in Pakistan.
Mitt Romney had absolutely nothing to do with killing Bin Laden, so I don’t see how anyone could possibly have a problem with him being excluded from a movie about said event.
If you are Mitt Romney or his handlers, you are kissing Harvey’s ass because they cut it. Everybody knows how involved Obama was at this point and how he was the only one advocating for this attack. Nothing we see will be new. It’s just actually seeing it played out on screen. But, being reminded that the Republican challenger was against it could be considered a late blow to Romney, who already has horrible foreign policy credentials.
Pathetic and desperate. Harvey is a sycophant to the highest level. I can totally see this working against Obama and turning people away pissed off that he’s being bragadocious.
Sounds like +1 for both sides.
I wonder about the effects on polio vaccination after using that as a cover, but i doubt that will get covered.
Worst case would probably be hardline regime holdouts and eventual creep of polio into neighbouring regions forcing ongoing programs instead of eradication. And general increased harassment of NGO’s.

Yes. Are you fine with the invasion of Iraq?
A far as I recall, wasn’t it BUSH – remember him – that was the Commander-in-Chief who called that shot?
If you and your family had been taken prisoner and were being illegally held in Pakistan, would you want the President to break a few rules to get you out?
That’s my whole logic on using torture. If your family was kidnapped and the only way to get the info on their whereabouts was to use torture would you do it? Yes, you would. So I believe 99.9% of the people believe in torture.
People… Its ENTERTAINMENT. If you’re too stupid to realize it, you have bigger problems…
LOL, I think they should have CGI’d Obama into the movie and had him strangle Osama by hand. Now that would be worth watching.
no disrespect to the navy seals they did their job, but this is one program on ngo that I will not watch, I will not watch another hollywood movie where obama pounds is chest and ask like a leader that many american no he is not
Anyone who thinks this isn’t propaganda is clueless. Michael Moore’s producer adds some new footage of the Campaigner-in Chief and the doc just happens to air two days before the election.
Right. What a coincidence.
I want to see the reenactment documentary of what really happened in Benghazi.
“Not politically motivated” is an insult to everyone’s intelligence. Just how stupid do they think we are?
