ABC’s Shark Tank continues to excel on Friday. The reality program (2.0/7 in adults 18-49, 7 million viewers) posted series highs in both 18-49 and total viewers last night. In the demo, it was up 18% from its fast national last week, up 11% from the final. Shark Tank also boosted Primetime What Would You Do (1.6/5) to a season high, up 23% from its fast national last Friday, 14% from the final. 20/20 (1.4/5) was even with last week. ABC (1.7/6 in 18-49, 5.8 million) hit Friday season highs in 18-49 and total viewers. In the fast nationals it is running as No.1 in 18-49, but that is likely to change as Fox’s baseball coverage also posted a 1.7 in the non-time zone adjusted fast nationals and will likely go up in the finals. (The last two games were adjusted up .2)

Baseball and weak 8 PM lead-in (Hawaii Five-0 rerun, 0.8/3 vs. NCIS repeat last week, 1.2) hurt CBS’ CSI: NY (1.2/4, down 14%) and Blue Bloods (1.3/4, down 7%). CBS (1.1/4, 8.4 million) once again won the night in total viewers. Against baseball, NBC’s male-skewing Grimm (1.4/5) also was down, by 13% from last week. Dateline NBC (1.3/4) was flat.

On the CW, America’s Next Top Model (0.6/2) was up a tenth (20%) from the last original episode two weeks ago. It led to the season premiere of Nikita (0.3/1), which opened with a series low, plummeting 50% from last fall’s premiere in the Friday 8 PM slot. It was also down 25% from its season finale in May.

Shark Tank ROCKS!!! Best competition show on television: entertaining and educational. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Sharks!!!
You are so right, FC… It is eeeeaasily my favorite show on TV.
In an era of throwing millions of dollars at big productions that get canceled halfway through the season, Shark Tank goes to show how a simple concept that doesn’t cost bazillions of dollars can be engaging and entertaining, memorable and successful. Just get the best people in front of and behind the cameras. It sounds easy to do but so many don’t get it.
NIKITA showed promise after its horribly stiff pilot and this season premier looked and felt as uninspired. How can the CW keep this on the air??? It’s an embarrassment. RIP
Only reason Shark Tank didn’t tank is ’cause not much else was worth watching and i myself only watched last night just to see, ‘what’s new.’ No longer will I watch ’cause the people chosen to pitch their stuff are a joke. And for the SMALL amount they’re asking to invest in, they’d be better off shopping elsewhere. What’s dumb is that some people have promise but if turned down, a) their idea’s out there for the whole world to see and with money, hit the ground running to copying and getting THEIR version sold first. Additionally, who want’s to finance the shows losers if they were rejected on National TV. For all you people who are thinking of hawking your ideas on the Tank, are you really smarter than a 5th grader?
Only reason Shark Tank didn’t tank is cause there was nothing else worth watching?
Do you know ANYTHING about ratings? Shark Tank has been on a gradual rise for the last two seasons…
ABC’s gotta be happy.
Great ratings for an entertaining show which is probably one of the least expensive in primetime.
Finally, 10 years later, Cuban beats Trump’s show’s last season’s average ratings. Well deserved after The Benefactor disaster.
Whoever replaced Foxworthy with Cuban deserves a promotion.
Also the FUBU guy has to go. He passes on everything, and has a brand that was popular over 15 years ago with no success after.
Nikita is the best produced on The CW. It’s actually one of the best produced shows on TV.
Its such a shame they moved its time slot now twice! So unfair.
Yeah, right, it’s sooooo unfaaaair that this stinker is still on the air after smelling up the ratings throughout its run.
Get rid of Nikita, 90210, Emily Owens next year. Cw needs to broaden up.
Move Dixie to Fridays next year ala NBCs Providence.
Roll out Cult ASAP: Carrie looks bad but whatev
Wunderland, Oxygen, Battle Royale and Amazon could work.
Please no CBS lite procedurals. CW should be young edgy event shows. A sexy AMC or FX for broadcast. Get some Jersey Shore zeitgeist reality in the mix too.
I didn’t even know NIKITA was back. Have not seen ONE ad for it. In any medium. Agree that it is the tightest show on the CW, and better than most network fare. PROMOTE THE THING!
Nikita will be done after this season as those rating are horrific!
You can argue about Nikita plausibility, but you can’t deny that show evolves and although “case of the week” obvious, but show not static. Every season (all two and first episode of third) have different flavor, not just different arc of the season (or enemy of the season).
The first half hour of Friday’s episode of CSI:NY was almost unbearable. Not only did I almost fall asleep but also switched channels several times.
I don’t think one word of dialogue was spoken. All set to Green Day’s new album making it one looong boring music video.
Thank goodness they added dialogue for the second half but it still didn’t make the episode better.
