With ABC’s Friday lineup in full force after a pre-emption for a Last Resort rerun last week, the network easily won the night in adults 18-49 to go 2-for-2 since the beginning of the season. (ABC and CBS finished tied in the demo last Friday). ABC was buoyed by Shark Tank (1.7/6 in adults 18-49), which rebounded after a Premiere Week dip, up 13% to rank as the top program of the night in 18-49. For the rest of the night, it was steady wins the race for ABC, as the network didn’t win another time period but its shows — What Would You Do? (1.4/5) and 20/20 (1.2/4) — stayed competitive to secure ABC’s nightly victory.
CBS’ once-formidable scripted Friday lineup is in desperate need of a tune-up. While its series finished 1-2-3 in total viewers to give the network a nightly win (8.2 million), in adults 18-49 they couldn’t crack the Top 4. Blue Bloods and CSI: NY (1.2/4) were tied with 20/20 for fifth, while freshman Made In Jersey (0.8/3) fell 27% from its underwhelming premiere last week to rank as the lowest-rated telecast on the Big 4 networks, behind repeats of The Voice and The X Factor. As much as I applaud CBS for not abandoning scripted programming on Friday, it seems like Undercover Boss may be joining the lineup soon.
NBC’s Grimm (1.6/5) held steady from last week to finish second behind Shark Tank and rank as the No. 1 scripted series of the night. Fox’s Fringe (1.0/3) was down a tenth from its final season premiere last Friday. The CW’s America’s Next Top Model (0.5/2) was flat.

CBS needs to cancel Made in Jersey or move it to another night as it is hurting their lead-in for primetime and the show is just abysmal to watch, which is affecting the other shows on this night.
Snark Tank has jumped the shark – it’s getting way to mushy and they’re starting to hand money out to businesses more because of sappy, bad-economy stories instead of great, proven business ideas. The tank will be drained after this season.
IMO Shark Tank is the most intelligent reality show on TV.
GRIMM was pretty awesome last night… Best episode yet.
It was definitely a much better episode than Shepard last week (which was obviously just a placeholder ep between the longer running story arcs). Introducing Hank into the world of the wessen is saving his character. Personally, I want to see more of the beavers. Those guys crack me up. Real shame about Juliette though, she was a great character.
“Made in Jersey” won it’s time slot again, yet everyone acts like bombing. Maybe it isn’t doing well with the 18-49 crowd is because they all out on Friday night?
- Grim 1.6/5
- What Would You Do? 1.4/5
- Fringe 1.0/3
- Made in Jersey 0.8/3
Winning the timeslot alright…
CBS canceled the wrong CSI spin-off, picked up at least one if not two out-of-the-box failures, Hawaii 5-0 is falling like a brick, Mentalist move was suicide, and their marquee new show Vegas is underwhelming. This is their worst scheduling season for many many years. What the hell happened?
Why is CBS trying to destroy the Mentalist? Sunday night??? because of football just sometime Sunday night?? People have to go to work on Monday Morning. Why not on Friday night in the time slot left open with the departure of Made in Jersey?
Of all the shows CBS could have picked up it chose Made in Jersey. They had a bunch of great pilot scripts. A number of which, shows like King and Maxwell get’s picked up by cable, and now there’s a bidding war in Europe for a Sony Genome crime solving show they passed on. Insane.
Grimm is a great show. It’s the only thing I watch on Friday nights.
New Jersey is a weird and wonderful state that has oceans, beaches, and Frank Lloyd Wright houses to the east, blueberry farms to the south, sylvan forests to the west, and NYC and Boston to the north. It has Mafia, born-again Christians, Reformed Jewish synagogues, Asbury Park rockers, and Indians pouring into Rutgers. It’s ripe for a “Northern Exposure” type program, but it will take a creative team that actually knows Jersey, instead of a mass of boring cliches.
