After airing a recap last Tuesday, NBC’s The Voice (4.4/13) returned in full force, up not only from last week (+47%) but also vs. the last original on the night two weeks ago (+10%). The Voice boosted Go On (2.8/7, up 33% from last week), The New Normal (2.0/5, up 18%), and Parenthood (2.0/6, up 25%). Parenthood posted its first No. 1 finish among 18-49 in the 10 PM hour this season, tying CBS’ Vegas and posting its best demo rating since November. NBC (2.9/8 in 18-49, 7.6 million total viewers) won the night in 18-49 for its first streak of three consecutive nightly wins in almost nine years.
Against a new Voice, CBS’ venerable drama NCIS (3.3/10) took a hit, down 11% from last week. NCIS: LA (2.9/8) was down 6%, while Vegas (2.0/5) held steady. CBS still comfortably won the night in total viewers with an average of 15 million and was a close second in 18-49 with a 2.8/8.
Encouraging news for Fox’s comedy “veteran” Raising Hope (1.8/5), which climbed a tenth from its low season premiere last Wednesday despite facing an original Voice last night vs. a recap last week. Raising Hope, the oldest among Fox’s live-action series, led into newbie Ben And Kate (1.5/4), which dropped a tenth from last week, as did tentpole New Girl (2.7/7). The Mindy Project (1.9/5) was flat.
ABC was status quo, with Dancing With The Stars results (2.1/6) and Private Practice (1.6/4) both flat with last week.
After its solid return last week, the CW’s Hart Of Dixie (0.4/1) dived 43% in its second airing at 8 PM. The ratings for the TV presentation of Joss Whedon’s Web musical Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog were well, horrible. The 4-year-old program drew a 0.2/1 in 18-49 and 570,000 viewers.

Interesting numbers with Dr. Horrible given that it was trending on twitter during the time it was on. It takes a whole lot of people tweeting to get something to trend (20-40 tweets every 5 seconds or something crazy like that). Makes you wonder if the younger crowd of teens and early 20-somethings (the ones living in dorms at school, or in rental houses, etc…) are being accurately track, or even tracked at all.
good point. nielsen sucks
So 20-40 tweets every 5 seconds for it to trend versus 570,000 viewers.
Sounds like Nielsen is doing its job and social media is over stated again (hello facebook stock price).
Will people finally realize that Joss Whedon cannot turn straw into gold?
You’re right, having the third highest grossing movie of all time with a 92% on rotten tomatoes is merely a smokescreen for the epic failure of a 4 year old program not doing well on the CW.
The Avengers.
CW is crap get rid of it, the affiliates need to drop them and run csi reruns
I love Dr. Horrible and would have definitely watched but I had no idea it was on. Maybe CWshould try a little advertising?
Good for Parenthood. This is one of the best shows on TV. NBC should give it a full 22 episode season and promote the hell out of it!
Let’s face it Dr. Horrible was a four old program. I got a feeling that I am one of the few people who didn’t see it. I will try to save my money and buy the DVD. I hope that there will be a future Dr. Horrible movie/series.
How many kids at college or school or anyone in the 18/49 demo have a neilson Box. The system is utterly flawed and killing scripted drama. Reality TV right now is keeping drama on the network afloat. So when idol comes out don’t be to quick to slam it.
Can we stop focusing on the ratings, and talk content for once?
The Mindy Project is just that, a “project.” My wife and I watched last night, and it’s officially off our list. It’s pretty much the worse writing and acting since “Carpoolers.” Ben and Kate is not far behind it. Just terrible, terrible, terrible. Oh, and I was a dvr number, so for those people that try to spin the numbers however they want, bad shows will get bad ratings — live or not.
Carpoolers rocked. There should have been more.
How long will it be before NBC decides to air The Voice 5 nights a week?
I bought Dr. Horrible when it was first released on iTunes, and again when it came out on DVD. Even if I had known it was being shown on the CW, which I didn’t, why would I watch it there, with commercial interuption?
Bye bye, Ben & Kate.
Totally agree! Parenthood is the best most realistic t.v. show on with the best acting.
1.9, huh? Think it’s too late for Fox to put a stop order on that check for the back order it just placed for God knows why? Even Community did better than that with a worse time slot.
I’d say that project is a failure.
Hmm. So, The CW is still around. Who knew?
I like CW loved and love heart of Dixie great show fun gives me a laugh to bad to bad people don’t give it a chance!! Can’t wait for that show
