Rhona Mitra has been tapped as the female lead opposite Eric Dane in TNT‘s action drama pilot The Last Ship, executive produced by Michael Bay. Jonathan Mostow is set to direct the pilot written by Hank Steinberg and Steven Kane. Based on the novel by William Brinkley, The Last Ship centers on the crew of a naval destroyer who, after a global catastrophe decimates the Earth’s population, are forced to confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they are among the only survivors. British-born Mitra will play Rachel Scott, a direct, strong-willed, intelligent, and fearless paleomicrobiologist. Dane plays the ship’s captain. Mitra, repped by Untitled and Ken McReddie in the UK, most recently starred on Cinemax’s Strike Back.
Sons Of Anarchy‘s Ryan Hurst has joined the cast of another TNT drama pilot, King & Maxwell. The project, from NCIS honcho Shane Brennan, is adapted from characters by author David Baldacci. In the vein of Moonlighting, it follows private eyes Sean King (Jon Tenney) and Michelle Maxwell, who both are former secret service agents. Hurst will play Edgar, a suspected serial killer in prison. A high-functioning autistic savant with an extraordinary ability to see patterns and numerical sequences, he forms a special relationship with King that leads to a breakthrough in their case. Hurst, repped by Domain and Piper Kaniecki Management, recently wrapped his co-starring turn on Sons Of Anarchy playing Opie, who met his demise in a highly rated episode that aired earlier this month. He recently wrapped the film CBGB with Malin Akerman and Johnny Galecki.

Love Rhona Mitra. Glad to see her working with Mostow and Bay.
Eric Dane and Rhona Mitra — reunited from the cast of Gideon’s Crossing.! Where’s Hamish Linklater?
perfect casting. rhona is awesome and will do great things with this role.
Rhona is awesome — having just completed some stellar work in Strike Back — this role sounds perfect for her.
Rhona Mitra, in character and out — has enough gusto to shove any program, series or film toward greatness. Grace, a refined sense of self and sheer awesome, are a gift to the explosive and trite nature of mr. Bay and those other, “otherlings
LOVE Rhona. Will watch her in anything.
