The inaugural Sundance London Film and Music Festival ran in April this year, hosting the UK and European premieres of movies that debuted in Park City in January, along with musical performances by 17 acts. Today, Robert Redford, the Sundance Institute and AEG Europe announced they’ve renewed the event for two more years. The 2013 Sundance London Festival will be held from April 25-28 at London’s O2 Arena. The program, which will again feature new work by American filmmakers and music artists, will be drawn up by the Sundance Institute. A series of panels and workshops is also being planned as a forum for the UK and European filmmaking community to exchange ideas. Last April’s highlights included the opening night Evening With Robert Redford And T Bone Burnett and a performance by Rufus and Martha Wainwright. Redford said in a statement today, “Sundance was warmly welcomed to London last year, by engaged and adventurous audiences eager to take a chance on independent film, and this makes a second year all the more exciting for us. The vibrant arts community in London has informed this decision as much as anything.”
