Reality star Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez will host Season 2 of Fox’s singing competition show. “The worst-kept secret in Hollywood is out, Mario and Khloé are our hosts. They will debut on our first live show in November and I couldn’t be happier,” said Simon Cowell today. “The rumors are true… I will be hosting @TheXFactorUSA this season!!!” tweeted Kardashian about 10 minutes before the official announcement came. “Alright guys, it’s official… I’ll be hosting @TheXFactorUSA ! Looking forward to working with @SimonCowell and the rest of the amazing,” tweeted Lopez at almost the same time. With new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, that makes four new additions to The X Factor’s talent pool this season. Cowell got rid of his former American Idol co-star Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger as judges and Steve Jones as host after X Factor failed to meet ratings expectations in its debut season. Music executive L.A. Reid remains as a judge this season.

I find it kind of funny that fans of crappy shows get to look down their noses at people affiliated with even crappier shows.
Just goes to show you don’t need to have talent, be smart nor have experience to get work in America. Hmmm, whom does she know…

Yep I’m sure it will given that The Voice is the number one 18-49 show of the broadcast season, The X Factor is Fox’s number one show by a long shot and there’s that little thing called American Idol returning in January…
Aren’t the ratings lower than last year after they spent all of this money on Britney etc? Should of just kept the show the way it was. Britney is so boring and Demi who cares. At least Nicole had people talking maybe not always in a good way but they were talking plus she broke that one little girl’s heart lol.

I think it’s actually a smart business move. More people watch the Kardasians then regular TV (even if it is just to hate on them). This will create story lines on next season’s KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASIANS, so its advertising that will continue to pay off.
Mario Lopez hosts the dance show on MTV exec produced by the only original Idol judge still standing, Randy Jackson. So Simon is stealing that thunder as well.
I agree it may be a very annoying season because of this decision. But it will probably pay off in dividends.
Gag…this show has gone from bad to worse…another reason to tune out after initial auditions. Is Simon ignorant to the hatred that exists around the Kardashians and the utter lack of appeal that Lopez has?
The Voice is fun because of the interaction and participation of the judges.This year they also have the better group of talent.However I don’t watch the shows because of the judges..I watch to see the kids sing.As far as hosts are concerned..non-factor.
Why would SImon Cowell chose an ugly reality star with zero talent? She doesn’t sing, she doesn’t dance, she doesn’t act, she does nothing other than be a bad reality star. She knows NOTHING about what talent is and Mario Lopez, while charming and a nice guy, hasn’t acted since “Saved By The Bell” and needed “Dancing WIth The Stars” to even have a career! This show has gone from bad to worse. I I will be watching The Voice exclusively.

How Simon does not understand that Kardashians are the joke is beyond me. And this is why this show will never be the hit it had hoped to be.

How will future storylines help the present ratings for X-Factor? FOX isnt spending all this money to equal basic cable ratings.
Also, what ‘thunder’ is being stolen. Lopez hosts a basic cable show that no one watches. Plus he can still host both so nothing is being stolen.
What’s ironic is that both shows are produced by Idol stars, Seacrest and Jackson, so the once great Simon is settling for Z List 2nd hand goods.
It will help NEXT season’s x factor ratings. X Factor is not just concerned with this season, JJ, that’s not how the business works. They are clearly making sure no one forgets about them in their off time.
Plus every tabloid will pick up the current stories each time Lamar, Kim, Bruce or any of the clan come to a taping to support Kloe.
Pretty obvios.
I guess this means Lopez won’t be doing the next season of Downton Abbey. Drat!
This is a huge mistake. Huge. I’m honestly shocked FOX and Simon signed off on this steaming pile I crap.
Look at Idol and how well Seacrest does or even the higher rated The Voice with Carson Daly. Those shows have HOSTS but X now has smarmy phony fake smiling cheeseball and an absolute no talent tabloid disaster who has saturated reality tv with one Z list apprearance after another. Have they heard Khloe speak? Ugh.
Just sit back and wait for the negative feedback on these two. You think they would’ve learned from the Nicole Scherzinger mess of a decision.
These two are by far the WORST hosting duo since Anne Hathaway and James Franco.

Simon said X factor would generate 20,000,000 viewers. Well it’s less then half that. these no additions will guarantee the ratings will continue to slide. I can hear them going down as I write this mail

It will succeed because people are commenting here. If no one commented then the show’s producers would be worried.
You think it will succeed because a small number of people are posting that they think it’s a terrible idea? So with that logic there must be a LOT of people that think Ryan Seacrest hosting American Idol is a bad idea because he’s been succeeding in that for a decade now. Sorry, but the reason Seacrest does well and even Carson Daly, to a lesser extent, is because they’re hosts first and foremost. Lopez, as other have said, has hosting experience so while not my first choice he makes sense to some degree. Khloe on the other hand is a joke. The Kardashian “brand” consists of money grubbing self-promotion at any cost and without talent. A talent show hiring someone completely devoid of any talent…other than annoying people….is almost comical. They’ve lowered their brand, aligned themselves with tabloid/low brow nonsense and aren’t just digging a bigger hole for this show. I think at this point they’ve sadly realized they ruined their chances with a hit and are now settling for the crumbs leftover from The Voice and Idol. Cowell is the man who took the completely charming and gorgeous Cheryl Cole and made her the UK’s “nation’s sweetheart” only to turn around, fire her and start choosing people like Khloe. Does he seriously think that a Kardashian would ever achieve that?

Nobody is going to take this show at all seriously now. Simon has disappointed in his consistently bad choices. No, this won’t create a buzz for potential watchers, just the opposite.
