He did it on Jimmy Fallon last night about the 20-year-old sitcom Full House. I’ll say this about Tom Hanks: he’ll do anything to promote his movies. His latest, the Wachowskis’ Cloud Atlas, opens on Friday:
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Maybe “Cloud Atlas” will be a great film, maybe it won’t. Either way, the producers of this film look to be acting out of fear with some of these Hanks-promotional-stunts. Dang, Tom…act like you’ve been there before.
This is brilliant the writing and performance are excellent. It deserves some special Emmy for short form late night guest star category.
And this is why I love Tom Hanks.
I wish this was funnier… it had all the makings except for the laughs.
U.S. Breeze, Hanks is always about this kind of thing, regardless of the film. Sometimes even when there’s not a film to promote. Don’t begrudge one of the few weird/adventurous megastars we’ve got.
Hanks is great and so is this. Has never distanced himself from television after becoming a movie star. Suddenly, it’s beneath them other former TV stars might do. Plus he understands the medium, and follows it, as it has been evolving (it seems to me.) The foregoing is also true of Clooney. I think “Cloud Atlas” looks fascinating. I’m one of the few people (in my experience) who had good things to say about “Speed Racer.” Looking forward to see Halle Berry wrapped up in such ambition too.
