Angela Bassett has been added to the cast of White Bird In A Blizzard. “Filming the new Gregg Araki movie today with Gabby Sidibe, very excited!” announced the Oscar nominated actress on her Facebook page today. Bassett will play Dr. Thaler in the indie drama about a young woman whose life spins out of control when her mother disappears. Shailene Woodley plays the young woman. Precious’ Gabourey Sidibe, Eva Green, and Shiloh Fernandez are also in White Bird. Former Law & Order: SVU star Christopher Meloni recently joined the project too. Bassett is staring and executive producing the Vanishing Point project that NBC closed a deal on in September. The actress will also be seen in the upcoming White House thriller Olympus Has Fallen with Gerald Butler. The movie is scheduled to be released on April 5, 2013. Bassett is repped by the Gersh Agency and Lighthouse Entertainment.

Can someone please give this woman a great meaty role? If anyone deserves it, its her. She’s a force of nature, god bless her.
Agreed! To this day I believe she was robbed of the Oscar. Fantastic actress.
Angela Fan , you are right. Today, people talk more about Angela Bassett’s haunting performance in ” What’s Love Got To Do With It,” more than Holly Hunter’s performance in “The Piano.” Angela is even more talented and versatile than Viola Davis. It is shameful the way Hollywood has treated her career. Bassett should be having a Cate Blanchett type of film career- a non-box-office film star that is still in demand.
I worked with her a couple of years ago at a benefit. “Benefit,” as in She was doing it as a favor. Absolute pro. This is one talented, classy, generous, charming, lady.
Really looking forward to a new film by Gregg, whose creative work has only become more and more dynamic on screen with stronger themes and characters.
Clearly, Araki is moving closer to the mainstream. Right. Sure.
add me to the fan club, Awesome actress and sexy
