EXCLUSIVE: After 13 years in show business, Angus T. Jones is used to living in the limelight. But yesterday, the Two And A Half Men co-star found himself in a different type of spotlight — at the center of a major controversy triggered by statements he’d made in a video testimonial for Forerunner Christian Church. His comments, in which the 19-year-old actor referred to Men as “filth” and urged viewers to “stop watching it,” went viral, but Jones himself remained silent on the controversy until now. In a statement to Deadline released by Insignia PR, Jones expresses his gratitude to Two And A Half Men, co-creator Chuck Lorre, CBS, series producer Warner Bros TV and studio chief Peter Roth for “what has been one of the most significant experiences in my life to date.” He also apologizes “if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed.” Here is Jones’ statement in its entirety:
I have been the subject of much discussion, speculation and commentary over the past 24 hours. While I cannot address everything that has been said or right every misstatement or misunderstanding, there is one thing I want to make clear.
Without qualification, I am grateful to and have the highest regard and respect for all of the wonderful people on Two and Half Men with whom I have worked over the past ten years and who have become an extension of my family.
Chuck Lorre, Peter Roth and many others at Warner Bros. and CBS are responsible for what has been one of the most significant experiences in my life to date. I thank them for the opportunity they have given and continue to give me and the help and guidance I have and expect to continue to receive from them.
I also want all of the crew and cast on our show to know how much I personally care for them and appreciate their support, guidance and love over the years. I grew up around them and know that the time they spent with me was in many instances more than with their own families. I learned life lessons from so many of them and will never forget how much positive impact they have had on my life.
I apologize if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed. I never intended that.

Actors– are there any dumber idiots on the Planet?
I assume that’s a rhetorical question?
Umm…let’s think about that…you?
I think your comment put you solidly in the top 5! Congrats!
producers. studio execs. you.
Translation – “I’m not giving back all the money I’ve earned on your filthy, stupid show, no matter what anyone says. That’s God’s money, and he destined me to have it. Also, all because these other people work on this show, creating the devil’s work, doesn’t make them bad people. Please make sure those people don’t spit on me or attack me, when the show is cancelled, thanks in large part to me. The crew should join my church and have their souls saved by Christ. Further, thanks to Mr. Lorre for paying me more money than I’m worth, and making me into a huge star, so I can be sought after by great church leaders, and be a beacon of hope for all mankind. I’m certain these Church leaders have my best interest at heart, and aren’t just using me because I’m famous. I’m certain they’d treat a homeless boy off Hollywood Blvd with the same compassion, respect, and love which they’ve shown me.”
pathetic. Just because at one point he thought nothing much of the filth on this show doesnt mean that now that his eyes are open he is okay with. I don’t think he should have apologized. The show exemplifies what is wrong with this country today.
Amen Bro!
He was a kid growing up on a degenerate set. Good for him for letting the truth be known. Hopefully more filthy actors will have a change of heart and repent from the fouling of the well that we all drink from.
Well Paul…what truth did he let be known? It wasn’t his own truth it was that of an organization that used a 19 year old boy to get themselves in the news. I am not sure what well you drink from but I drink from the non-judgemental my God is a “loving” God well.
I dumped tv in 1997 because I already saw what he just figured out. I’ve never seen the show.
Looks like that is a good thing.
No one cares what you did in 1997.
You “dumped TV” and yet read and post on an inside-Hollywood website that focuses on TV. Hmm. Something smells rotten here…
Nope, it’s not.. this show is hilarious. Filthy and hilarious.
Agreed. The show is filth, and the kid, a good kid, loves God and wants no part of it. So idiots are saying the kid “lost his mind.” What a sick world, and Hollywood is the sickest part of the planet.
That should be spelled FOLLYWOOD. In fact, it wouldn’t take much to change the current sign to read that since all they would have to change would be the letter “H” – easy doing.
He has not walked away. He did not quit the show. He continues to work on “the filth” and neither he nor his reps have made ANY overtures to get him out of his contract. He hasn’t walked from anything – he’s mouthing off and now realizing “oops”. If he had real conviction, he’d walk and say “sue me.”
No, the sickest part of this world are the religious people that judge others and think they are superior, the Bible Belt and other overly religious people are what is wrong with the world.
Amen! I was thrilled to read his statements yesterday. Hollywood and the sell-outs who work there are the worst form of trash! They lead millions away from God and straight towards hell and the weak minded follow like mice to the Pied Piper! Seems like this kid may have had a Kirk Cameron moment. I respect Kirk very much for walking away and putting his soul first.
where did he say he ‘was walking away’. He’s still doing the show and still getting paid….
And then you wonder why the middle east Islam sees America as “Satan”. All they have to do is watch our current “Family Hour” television and it would confirm and bolster their belief.
The blind followers like you are the weak minded! Angus is old enough and smart enough to figure things out for himself. It takes a strong minded person to think for themselves and follow a moral path WITHOUT some bullshit religion dictating to them how to act in life. Treat all living beings, animals included please, with respect and we will all be fine!
Sorry “lisa”, your point is like saying dont punish criminals, just tell them to do better. If you cant understand and comprehend that your actions will result in you paying for your inhumanity one way or another.
I think we just found Thursday’s vanity card..
Bazinga, as Sheldon would say — I mean Mr. Lorre would write.
I think that about sums it up
And now the translation of what ‘Patty Blossom’ wrote:
“Hey! This is twisted left Hollywood. You’re allowed your opinion only as long as it agrees with ours! Obey Hollywood, damn it!”
Lots of people in Hollywood agree that 2 and 1/2 men is crap — and Lorre is one of the most reviled men in town. This isn’t about politics, though that’s clearly your angle. It’s about a very wealthy kid — who could’ve quietly stepped away from the job and focused his energy (and money) on his church — choosing to make a huge media splash, while collecting a huge paycheck from the show he’s slandering.
Interesting how you are trolling an inner-Hollywood website with your free time even though you seem to have such a problem with “twisted” Hollywood.
Well said
yup, that’s it in a nutshell.
This little nobody got the break of a lifetime, then he bites the hand that wrote the check.
His whole routine on the show was to eat and pass gas, wow, what a talent, how will the show go on without him? I sure hope they try!
The REAL translation : the show was funny but the writers and whoever pushes the show to be edgier and more titillating couldn’t stop themselves from pushing the edge over and over and over – and crossing the line over and over until it was more over the line than under. Instead of having one character on the show who was a player juxtaposed to a straight and narrow parent type who paid a price for his carousing, everyone on the show became a slut – the show became about prostitution and oral sex and cheap sex and casual sex and sex without consequences and incest jokes and drugs and vomiting and and jiggling. Don’t believe me? Watch the first season and then watch random episodes of the last four. It is trash – filthy trash – it didn’t start out that way but evolved that way – they took the low road. Even if you didn’t have religious beliefs, it’s trash! So the young actor has the courage to say the truth and is trying to be polite and maybe there’s a chance the show will redeem itself before the end – I bet 2/3 of the crew feels the same way. We quit letting our kids watch it five or six years ago – well done, Angus!
Here! Here! Loved your comment, Joe! Thanks for printing what I was thinking.
Ha ha ha ha I was thinking the same thing.
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
Good Elmer Gantry quote.
Amen.
Rather verbose post; yet without meaning. Does the phrase, “Village-idiot” have any meaning to you?
Touche’ Patty Blossom! You hit it spot on!
Hopefully you’ll not seek a job with the UN, as that may have been the worst translation in the history of the universe.
Give the money back? Not likely. Great show, but CBS needs to keep a better handle on the stars, they don’t do a very good coaching job.
Amen! Um, I mean well said! The haters running their mouths on this board have never worked in Hollywood… I have. It is filth, and it is filth like this “actor” who blame everybody except themselves for it. Shame on the church, shame on the man himself, and shame on the industry, but special shame on people who don’t understand that they are responsible for this nightmare of a country. Remember when people came here? Now it is time to leave this sinking ship. Don’t worry, I’ll be first on board that boat.
You nailed it.. and were funny and creative at the same time. Clever answer,,, The Siggster
Well said!
That’s pretty well said! This Guy is making MORE in 1 week,
than Families make working for real, in 10 years time. LOL
Seriously?
What is going on here?
Mmmmm….people who post criticisms anonymously online?
Did you just criticize every one for posting criticism?
I find this Odd coming from “Matthew”
THAT certainly narrows it down to any one of 958,538 people in the U.S. *assuming* you are in the U.S. So, effectively, you too are anonymous to the average poster here.
Back on point.
I am sure he woke up and realized…
* He does not have Charlie Sheen’s “clout”
* Charlie Sheen had a huge melt down
* He is no one in comparison and this may be viewed as HIS meltodwn
*If they replaced Sheen, they will replace him.
OH NO!!!! My paycheck!!
I disagree with those who think this is what is wrong with America. If you work for any company, you can not simply go out and disparage their product or the company and expect to keep your job.
As much as I dislike Hollyweird, it is no different there. If he doesn’t like the show and thinks its filth, then lead by example and leave the show and do what Kirk Cameron does. Pick shows and do movies that align with your religious beliefs.
I’m sure he’d have problems with even the most “pablum” Disney animated features. The Lion King? He’d squirm over some of the fun the animators had with that one. A remake of The Wizard of Oz? Too much witchcraft. GWTW? Too much cussin’.
It is a close call, but there are a bunch of suits in Washington DC that daily challenge actors for the dumbest idiot title.
BINGO!!!
NOPE. They truly seem to be the slowest bunch around…
Nice to finally see a young man seeking humility over pride, selflessness over self importance, and truth as simply written in Scripture. Think of the happiness that may have occurred in Charlie Sheen’s life if he had done the same.
Well said, lady gaga?
He will pay a price in his acting career. But aren’t there more important things than a small bit of fame. Money can only buy you a bandaid for your soul. Eventually bandaids fall off and your are left with same hole. Good for him, maybe he can avoid the trap of emptines fame and excess material garbage bring God never intended people to be worshiped. That is the enemies lair. & He is very fickle!
Than he should give back all that money he made doing devil’s work
These accolades for Angus would be sound so much more legitimate if the actor were to give back every golden coin he earned on the show, or at least donate those proceeds to charity. There is something distinctively hypocritical about actors who speak out against their own work after they have been comfortably ensconced by the profits that work has produced for them. Now that I’m comfortable and set for life, I am suddenly gripped with moral rectitude. Really?
deckbose, Really? this kid is 19 now, just becoming an adult and learning to make his own decisions. I am proud that he would have the fortitude to take a stand for what is right when the obvious pressure around him to continue to say this in not filth. Wouldn’t it be a good thing if more young men took a stand for moral standards?
And pray do tell what “right” is he exactly taking a stand for. What makes what he is standing for right. Is it the fact that you believe what these so-called men of God peddle. Seriously, I’m having trouble wrapping my brain around how people believe there’s this guy in the sky who watches over us. It’s a caveman mentality. I mean, I grew up Catholic and I still, to this day, attend church on a weekly basis (it’s better than having to deal with the guilt trip my mother lays on me) and it feels like some twisted, cruel game these people play on gullible people not unlike the things psychics and mediums do, except psychics abd mediums have less influence. I don’t get it. I’m all for people being happy and if this magic show does It for you, great, to each his own. Just please keep it to yourself. Young is an adult and free to believe what he wants but he should keep his opinions to himself.
Well he sure backpedaled pretty hard on his statements (while trying pretty hard at the same time not to overtly retract them) when he realized he was putting his $135,000/episode and his whole future acting career on the line. Maybe he’ll get picked up by Mel Gibson.
Humility is videotaping your critique of the job that’s paid your salary for years and then letting it be splashed all over the internet?
If he didn’t want “fame” he would’ve quietly gone to his agents and bosses and extricated himself from the rest of this year’s episodes (which is only a few, it would’ve been pretty easy). Instead he’s looking for fame in a new corner, now that the writers have minimized his role and he’s realized he isn’t going to be famous as an actor for much longer.
It always gets me that we are somehow able to know what a person’s intentions are for doing something. It is usually projection, which means if that were me, I would be doing this because…. I am not saying dr.dre is doing that, I am saying that this is often why I and others seem to do it. But unless you have a corner on his mind, or he admitted it to you, how do you know this is why he is doing what he is doing?
I went through the same thing, gave my life to God and have never been happier. Also, got the gig of a lifetime soon after. I’m with the kid, all the way.
No there is not.
kiss the money train little boy
people who comment on boards about actors
…which you just did.
All he’s saying is “I went crazy but I would still like to have the money please.”
NO!!
In general, the answer to your question is no.
Actors present a story. Nothing more. It’s the fans and public in general that turn these people into something they aren’t.
Two and a half men is an adult show with a kid in it. It’s hillarious and I’m proud to say I own every episode of the ones with Sheen. It’s a fun light hearted show and if the rampant sexuality bothers you perhaps you should change the channel. For one I enjoy a show that doesn’t portray sex in such a dramatic light.
Politicians.
Politicians perhaps?
Yes, they’re called politicians.
Hey Rantman…yes, there are dumber idiots on the planet. You for one. This is a young kid who got used by a religious organization. But an idiot? Idiot actors don’t book work at $350,000 a week.
If you think that acting is easy, and any “idiot” could do it, let’s see you give it a try. Crank up your webcam and show us your stuff Mr. big shot. Let’s see how much a week you are worth!
Poor John Cryer. He’s probably like can you people STFU so I can keep my job?
Rofl, that is so true
He’s already stated that he doesn’t want to be on the show anymore.
You said it.
Exactly! Proving NICE GUYS do SUFFER MOST.
The kid is right the show is atrocious. There are absolutely no redeeming qualities to this show. I thought it had gotten bad when Charlie sheen was there but it has gotten a lot worse since then. I say either clean up their act or end the show.
For what it’s worth, I started to watch the show because of Angus! I loved him and expected to see him alot and enjoy the “humor” of the show, UNTIL it turned TOTALLY porn. I was ,at times, embarassed watching it. I no longer watch the show. I have to commend Angus for having the guts to speak out and I hope he does not back-down. It’s about time someone in the TV industry is brave enough to take a stand against this type of entertainment. THANK YOU! Angus
So much guts that he took back everything that he said. He’s so bold!
In what way? He apologized for offending anyone personally and admitted that he had been given a great opportunity. The show has degraded to potty humor at best and is nothing but a shadow of what it was. Who on this board has been in the same position at work for 10 years…? Didn’t think so. Give him a break, he’s 19.
He didn’t take back what he said about the show. He clarified he wasn’t disparaging all those with whom he has worked and with whom he’s had personal relationships since he was eight years old.
This is a very young man. Young men are not, generally, known for wisdom or weighing the consequences of their words.
I do agree, the show has gotten worse since Sheen left. The only bright spot is when Angus is on, IMHO.
He didn’t take back everything. Pay attention.
El Groucho, you just read into it what you wanted. He took nothing back, he apologized if he offended his boss and coworkers and he thanked his bosses for the opportunities they gave him.
He didn’t retract a thing he said about the show. I bet your a lemming.
Apparently you are watching quite a bit of the show. You seem to know a lot about it. Quit your self rightous bitchin. If you dont like it dont watch it. Tune into Joyce Myers instead. It might be more to your liking
so kerry, you must be watching this atrocious show to know how bad it is, how brave of you. lol
I love the show, Alan & Berta are the best, Walden is getting better, I could live without Jake.
No one is forced to watch the show, so I don’t understand all the negative comments about it, don’t like it, there’s 400 other channels to watch.
Nobody forces you to watch the show,
Translation: Thanks for hiring me and working hard, but the show is still fucking trash.
Probably an accurate translation. Jake and Berta have always had the best lines in my opinion. I don’t particularly like the new show because John Cryer (the least likable character in the old show) has too prominent a role and Ashton Kutcher can’t fill the shoes of Charlie. This show is history.
Hard to disagree with him.
Which it is.
So trashing a show that pays you $300,000 an episode maybe isn’t such a smart move. Hey Angus, you’re no Charlie Sheen. Don’t piss on your last minutes of fame.
His “last minutes of fame” outweigh your zero minutes of fame. He will still be acting, directing, and/or producing long after you forget this post.
First of all, some of the people who post on this site are showrunners, stars, and major studio execs — “Erik” could be way more famous than Angus. Or he could be someone who doesn’t give a shit about being famous — he never said he wanted fame himself. He’s just making the point that Angus — a mediocre talent who hasn’t been able to get much work outside of the show — will probably go the way of most child actors and disappear into obscurity and/or bad reality shows. So Erik is correct, the odds are that these are Angus’s last minutes of fame. And Angus is most definitely pissing on them.
C’mon Doc. Are you really sticking up for someone who thinks that “you’re no Charlie Sheen” is a put down?
I assumed the “You’re no Charlie Sheen” was a comment on Angus’s level of fame — since Sheen is unquestionably far more famous. But if it was a comment on Sheen’s acting ability then you’re right, that’s definitely a sentiment I wouldn’t want to defend!
You speak as if money is happiness. It is not.
Ummmmmmm…..desperate to keep your job much????? back-pedal, back-pedal….a day earlier you implored the world to put all those people that you “care” about out of a job. And you make more money than most people do in a decade within one week. grow up. keep apologizing and be thankful for your gig and opportunity. You never have to work again and most likely won’t.
Someone clearly doesn’t want to be fired from the “filth”
This sounds much more like the Angus I’ve heard so many wonderful things about over the years from cast and crew. The videos just seemed weird and from another world. Hope this blows over quickly for all the already stressed cast & crew who’ve worked so hard.
Or it sounds like the words of his publicist with him sulking in the corner yelling do I have to?
Good for starters. Now sever ties with that cult leader and get into counseling and you may be onto something.
If the outcry was not what “he intended” with those remarks, what strange alternate outcome did he expect?
“Filth” in Hollywood, is worshiped. I am shocked they are not using that “interview” as a promo.
He most likely expected them to be tolerant, and respect his opinions. He is a kid, so he most likely bought into the hype around Hollywood.
This statement appears programmed and wooden. It explains nothing and does nothing to remove the sting of the original statement. Unlike Charlie Sheen, Angus has seen the handwriting on the wall and is, belatedly, trying to save what’s left of his job!
this whole situation disgusts me. if angus thinks his employer is horrible, then quit. and if the show is sinful, then quit and then donate the $350K weekly paycheck to charity. but do NOT whine about the situation, framing it from a quasi-religous standpoint, while sitting on a pile of cash. it is hyprocrisy and sinfull, in the view of anyone’s god. disgusting.
He’s in a contract, he can’t quit. And the show is trash. And he simply stated “I didn’t mean any disrespect to the other people involved.” Internet warriors. 2 cents of sense, and 2 gigs of bandwidth.
well he should have quit in may then, instead he signed a new contract, I guess in a few months the show suddenly became filth?
Translation: Please keep sending my paycheck…
There must be something in the bible about biting the hand that feeds…
He was posturing for the church. Stupid, but he’s young.
Well, a publicist (and who knows how many other industry people) got to the young man.
I think people have been too harsh on him, and criticized him as if he’d spent most of his years on the show as an adult. He was a child actor and we should all know by now a lot of child actors didn’t have much say in their own careers.
That said, he’s now an adult. If he’s going to criticize the show for being filth and tell people not to watch, he ought to leave. He doesn’t have to give back any of the money he’s made, but he shouldn’t in good conscience continue working on it.
He can’t leave. He is under contract.
Legally, he may be an adult, but studies prove impulse control is poor in young men Angus’ age (which is why they engage in many physically risky behaviors), and he is really still a kid.
Can’t blame the guy for speaking the truth.
With a punum like that, this guy should be doing everything he can to NOT be an out of work actor. Dummy.
Does Hallmark make a “You Better Apologize To Chuck Lorre Before He Cans You” Card?
Why do they always apologize but never explain?
No mention of God this time around?
So he apologizes and this confuses me. Is he apologizing for his faith, or for fear of losing his job. What if he gains the world and loses his soul? He’s got to stand for something…or fall for everything..At least, that was what I was taught growing up. Either way, best of luck.
He’s apologizing to any of the cast that may have been offended. He stated in his first video, if you had watched it, that he can’t quit because of contract and would be happy to be fired.
He could quit, and just pay the penalties or buy himself out of the contract.
Exactly right. Actors do it all the time, and Angus is being minimized on the show, so he would have a pretty easy time getting out.
Angus T. Young writes in a very clear and concise manner…. wait a minute… you don’t think these aren’t HIS thoughts, do you?!?!
I bet he didn’t think about the “filth” when he was cashing his checks. Little ingrate. I hope they fire him.
This kid is a marginal talent who lucked into a ridiculously lucrative gig. He should shut up or donate his salary to charity.
As should you.
Angus is still just a kid and has got brain washed by some smooth talking adults. The things I read about the guy next to him in the YouTube are not very good. I am sure they can see money and a name to bring in more people to their group. Hope he does not end up giving them all his money.
You base your judgment of a person by what you “read about the guy next to him in the YouTube”?!?!?!?
“Angus is still just a kid and has got brain washed by some smooth talking adults”
That is the most ironic comment I think I have ever read, and shows how utterly lost the demented culture and nihilistic belief system of slaves of Hollywood USA truly is now.
“That is the most ironic comment I think I have ever read, and shows how utterly lost the demented culture and nihilistic belief system of slaves of Hollywood USA truly is now.”
Agreed! The great David Lowery (of Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker fame) once wrote that Americans don’t have a firm grasp on irony. It seems that observation is very accurate.
