Looks like Angus T. Jones won’t have to endure that inevitable awkward moment on the set of Two And A Half Men until after the New Year. And it isn’t the teen actor’s recent video tirade against the “filth” of his CBS sitcom and TV in general keeping him off the show, but rather the schedule: Two And A Half Men only has two more episodes to shoot before it breaks for the holidays, and Jones isn’t appearing in either one. If the timing seems a little too convenient following Jones’ faith-based lambasting of Men, it is pure coincidence, a source says, as both episodes were written before Jones began urging viewers to not watch the show. With Jones’ Jake Harper character now in the Army, the actor hasn’t been appearing in every episode this year, and when he does, it is sometimes only briefly.
Jones, like co-stars Ashton Kutcher and Jon Cryer, has no contract for the series beyond this year, which is Men’s 10th season. The 19-year-old currently pulls in more than $300,000 an episode on the series, which already has endured one star controversy with Charlie Sheen’s public departure from the show last year. (Sheen today reacted to his former co-star’s tirade, telling People magazine: “With Angus’s Hale-Bopp-like meltdown, it is radically clear to me that the show is cursed.”) CBS and Warner Bros TV, which produces Two And A Half Men, had no comment on Jones or his work schedule.
Deadline's Dominic Patten - tip him here.

Well it should be a smooth transition into next season seeing as he was already being written off the show. Now 2Men can go on being unfunny with out it’s least funny member.
Like
They must be able to find someone funny to fill his gap, and also, Jon Cryer is a saint, being on a sitcom shouldn’t be this difficult.
how about just cancel the show. It´s NOT funny anymore. Charlie Sheen was what made 2 and a half men. without him it´s dumb…..
I totally agree. Without Sheen, the show would never have made it. Ashton Kucher is just riding on Charlie Sheen’s coat tails.
I absolutely take my hate off to this young man, to take a stance with Christianity in Hollywood, takes some doing. I’m glad he followed his heart/spirit in doing the right thing.
Most of these shows are morally bankrupt.
He’ll be bankrupt too if he keeps listening to this church
Amen!
So is the Catholic church, and a host of other religions around the world.
That’s all well and good, but then put your money where your mouth is. You don’t get to decry the moral ineptitude of Hollywood while also getting $300k/episode. If your convictions are that strong, do not participate.
I absolutely agree with the above comment by John. I have about had my fill of Hollywood actors making a boatload of money off of films / television shows – all the while spouting how they do not personally let their own children watch the “filth” – This is hypocrisy at its finest. I suppose it is all well and good to continue pocketing the money they make – as long as they corrupt others and other people’s children – just not their own. To directly quote John above “If your convictions are that strong, do not participate.”
Until he gives away all his pay checks from Satan’s show and quits, he’s just faking it.
My “hate” is off to you too…Freudian slip?
Hilarious!
Faith is one thing. Immaturity and rancor is quite something else. Angus could have easily quit quietly without making himself the center of attention. He could have sat down with his bosses at WB and Lorre Productions and expressed his new-found concerns.
No employer – show business or not – should be expected to allow any employee to publicly bash them, in the name of God or any other reason. No company would allow such an empliyee to still work there.
In 2013, we’ll either see Jake Harper KIA (Lorre is not adverse to burning his characters this way) or simply written off the show, the way Holland Taylor has disappeared.
If so, then Ashton can be the Half-Man. Heck, he sort of is that in real life now!
I agree with Davek & John,I believe NO one should let their employee’s bash them,What this young man (Angus T. Jones)did is NOT right,I don’t care who you are if you don’t like it leave and get another job!
Where is the RESPECT for your Bosses (WB and Lorre Productions)young Man.Go and fine a different job! good luck!
Find*
Christianity? This is psychotic behavior.
You know all about these shows because???? I love that people say all tese shows are soooo wrong.. It is funny because to know this – you must be watching these shows.. So hop off the soapbox and try to remember that it is just TV.. entertainment… if you do not like a certain form of entertainment – do not watch or listen to it.. It is really that easy..
I also applaud this young – emphasize YOUNG man’s comments about the show, and his views on it.
What I do not support, is his stupidity and hypocrisy, given the fact that he made his opinions known while he is drawing a check, employed to perform on such a ” FILTHY” show.
Being a young man, he also failed to recognize the potential fall-out from his irresponsible outburst.
The potential ….companies cancelling their advertising dollars, employees losing their jobs – families affected….. And so on.
I would have had far greater respect for his opinion voiced, Had he done so after the current Season was over, and a decision on his part was made, not to return; and his reasons why .
His PR firm did a terrible job – Because they gave him a script to use in his apology ( which in part-addresses part of what was included in my view ). Rather than use his own voice – his own words, his response is hollow, falls flat and contradicts the spirit of his views .
You’d think he’d have better guidance – Be it his parents or PR team
It would be nice if this event gave class to the show and allowed
Jake to find God in the Army. The show could grow by exploring a new path for Jake. Obviously the two men have issues that Jake does not need. It would be a refreshing change of format.
I also agree with you. Angus said what he felt and he, as the rest of us, has that right.
Nice move kid. Enjoy your non-acting adult years…
My thoughts exactly.
I second that!
agreed. If i was a producer of a show i wouldn’t hire him knowing that he is known to go off and bash the hand that feeds him. good luck finding work after this tirade.
Yeah, like he needs to work. At $300,000 an episode with only five minutes of total screen time, I don’t think he needs to worry abut a job. We should be that lucky.
He’s 19, so therefore not a child actor
He will be written off very fast. Jake will go into the Army full time and we won’t see him again after this season concludes. He’s no longer half a man so they will bring in a young boy age 8 or 9 as Kutcher’s son who he never knew about from a one night stand he had. The boy’s mom will tell Ashton here he is your son he’s all yours now that you’re wealthy. The show could run another five years or longer this way.
Bingo!!!!
i was going to go with a sex change storyline and hence new character but your’s is more of a 330 yard down the middle shot.
If I were you I would apply to WB as a writer, great idea.
Also, if I were you I would keep a record of when I wrote this publicly. ‘Cause they steal it if they can.
You hit the nail on the head. I’m going to step out on a limb and say, they might throw a curve-ball, bringing in a “paper moon type daughter”. Think of all the untold jokes & revitalized marketing campaign a “she” could permit them to explore.
No Missi will wind u pregnant from he time with Jake. Lets face it Jake has not been a 1/2 of man for some time hes been 2/3rds 3/5th 3/4 4/5ths now full up so why not start with infant thy can drag it out for another 18yrs. Slap me they might just do it
I assume he’s giving back all the money he earned from this show.
Look forward to seeing Angus on VH-1′s WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO …. In 2022
RIGHT ON:-))))
It’s going to be pretty easy to develop storyline leading to another funeral.
So he gets paid a lot of money to do a show that made him a star and rich and now he’s turning on it and bashing it? I hate it when celebs do this, bite that hand that feeds them. They are overpaid to begin with and show how little respect for their crew and fellow cast mates, not to mention the fans. Did he even consider while he’s fine the crew might not be if people ‘stop watching’ his show? Of course not cause he’s a star and more important then anyone else.
Amen!
the announcement that the show is cancelled will be coming in January…
You don’t have to convert to Christianity to realize “Two and A Half Men” is a terrible show.
It may be terrible, but he shouldn’t be doing it if he thinks it is that bad and certainly not be bashing it. after all he doesn’t mind all the goodies it got him.
You know your career is in trouble with Charlie Sheen ridicules you for your meltdown.
Justin, you win the Internet.
Jake goes to Afghanistan. The End
Sounds about right….
it will be interesting to see what the next decade has in store for angus t jones.
I’ve never seen this show but I heard it was terrible.
He started on this show when he was a child. Before he was old enough to know what he wanted out of life. And before he truly understood the context of the content on the program. Now he is a young man and as he seeks to find his own path, he has realized that being on a show that objectifies women and is full of sex jokes is not what he wants out of life. He is old enough to realize that he no longer wants to play a character that is not only an ignoramus, but is also getting high all the time and has evolved from a “self gratifying” teenager to one who indulges in indiscriminate pre-marital sex. So what if he makes $300,000+ per episode? He is prepared to walk away from the money because he has come to realize that it does not align with his values. Maybe he has realized that he doesn’t want to be an adult actor. All everyone seems concerned about is that he makes a lot of money and therefore should just shut up and be happy. What good is all the money in the world if you can’t look yourself in the mirror?
if he was prepared to walk away from the money he would have done so. All he’s prepared to do is tell peeps not to watch the show.
exactly
how many sitcoms cast prostitutes on a regular basis plus this kid’s character has been the butt of degrading jokes flying over his head for years.
now he is figuring out what he wants to say and do as a conscious adult. maybe he’ll regret making sweeping public statements about his beliefs but that’s his right as an adult.
his parents put him on this show as a kid so it’s not fair to call him a hypocrite and being under contract means you can’t just walk away from 300k per ep – remember jessica biel’s 7th Heaven rebellion to get out of contract?
Yes, but he is 19 now. which means that when he became an adult at 18 he was no longer subject to his parents wishes. that means he must’ve signed the contract himself at that point not his parents, because a parent cannot sign and force an adult into a contract.
It’s not his option to say I do not like this. Hes done with his contract he was not required to do anymore of trips to the Studio. He could just not signed a new contract and not made such a publicly stunt out of it. When asked he could have said I am no longer on 2 1/2 men due to creative differences and kept his career.
He could have done other things but to cut the throat of everyone on the set cast CREW everyone. We all know that everything would have “leaked” and his hands would have been clean and he would have what Christians seem to think they have his honor. He does come off as two faced or should it be 2&1/2 faced?
couldn’t have said it better myself. he can have his opionion, but he went to far. having an opinion and trash talking are two different things.
I agree
I thank you for sharing your position about Mr. Jones’ comments.
I really think you gave a sense of understanding and humanity, as
well as supported his rights to Freedom Of Speech. To me, he sounds perfectly capable of taking full responsibility for what he
has said; where he said, who who heard it; and for who is affected by it.
It is amazing when someone in the public eye says something that
causes people to stir. For me, network television is a remaining
vestiage of immorality that they contiue to sell the public, and mind you the public is still buying it. His income from this show is just a drop in the bucket to what that show brings in to the network as well as to its creators, and the show is in its 10th season. Now what does that tell ya’. When
you do a wrong that harms and damages your own conscience, and you become aware of it-then where else
can you go except to confession; because telling the truth is what
sets you free. And most of the time it is our only LIBERATOR.
Way To Go, Mr. Jones!!!!!!!
This kid, should not be taking all the money he earned its covered in filth !!!! People like this make me want to throw up my soup !!!!!!!!
This will be an easy fix: write him off the show and then edit the title to be “Two Half Men”. Done.
Can the show’s writers, write a show without any sexual references? It would be interesting to see if they could. It might even be funny. I’ve worked on a lot of sitcoms and the same old raunchy jokes are getting old. The crews have a hard time not groaning–same old gay jokes, boob jokes, etc. and sometimes even a fart joke–those always get a cheap laugh.
It does seem the sitcoms are based around sex, and without sexual episodes, the writer’s can’t seem to write. I still watch Two & A Half Men, but I don’t record it anymore. I hate how the characters are not evolving. I always found Jake to be a funny character – he’s not there; Berta isn’t as funny as she used to be; Alan once had a career and now he’s a bum and is he going gay? Don’t like what they are doing with his character; and as for Walden, he’s just not Charlie. I really don’t care about the size of his penis, and yet it seems every show is based around that. I just don’t laugh when I watch it that much these days, and I’ll probably not watch it next season if it doesn’t get better. I miss Charlie and Rose, and Alan with a job and struggling, not being a leach. Just can’t stand the leach.
Is Jones out $600,000 (2 ep. X $300k ep. fee) next month? Or does his deal/contract read “all shows produced?” I’m guessing that by year 10 the kid’s deal is surely “all shows produced.”
Or they just cancel the show. I coped well with Sheen’s departcher but if they start getting to the point where they have to sack yet another actor it will just start getting silly.
@Chris – Cry me a river. John “Cryer” is crying all the way to the bank!
Wrong. You can hear him being coached right on the clip. Personally, I think it’s a much needed publicity stunt. Good luck.
Nick-at-Nite or someone will pick these shows up in syndication and run them late at night for years to come and the kid will make $$$$ off them til the day he dies.
