The CW has handed a full-season order to Beauty And The Beast. This is the second CW freshman series to get a back-nine order following the network’s pickup of Arrow last month. Beauty And The Beast has not been the breakout hit that Arrow has been but the show inched up in the ratings last night in total viewers and all key adult demos despite its lead-in, The Vampire Diaries, dipping a bit. Season to date, Beauty And The Beast, starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan, is averaging 2.4 million viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-34, according to “most current” Nielsen data. Ratings-wise, Beauty And The Beast ranks second behind Arrow among the CW’s new series. The third, Emily Owens MD, is still awaiting word on a back episodic order after receiving a three-script pickup last month. While it lags behind Beauty And The Beast, Emily Owens is handicapped by a weak lead-in from Hart Of Dixie vs. Vampire Diaries, which opens for Beauty And The Beast.
Beauty And The Beast is based on the 1980s series. Sherri Cooper and Jennifer Levin wrote the adaptation and serve as two of the series’ 11 (!) executive producers. CBS TV Studios is the studio.

B&TB has been really good lately. Definitely one of the better series on the CW. Happy to see people giving it a chance.

couldn’t they have cancelled it so that they could air “Cult”, which was a MUCH better pilot. And that’s saying something, considering “Cult” probably won’t be that critically acclaimed either.
Can’t wait for CW’s The Little Mermaid about a hotshot Coast Guard Detective who teams up with a magical water breathing runway model to investigate nautical based crimes.
My wife and I only made it through the first 20 minutes of the pilot before giving up. Not surprised CW is holding on to it though; in their world, a 0.9 is actually pretty good.

Hey if you don’t like this show then fine but there plenty of us that do and are excited by this news. So don’t be childish and take out your frustrations on this show just because your Cult show hasn’t aired yet Or knock it because you don’t like it grow up please
I totally agree with you. I love this show and watch it online. My sister and I can’t get enough of Beauty and the Beast!!!
Ugh. Why? This non-hit will always be a non-hit. It’s devoid of the charm of the original and has neither a beauty nor a beast in the cast. After they’ve seen the buzz and viewers they can generate with ‘Arrow’ how can they settle for this blahness?

Get a life. Keep your own negativity in your own lives. The people who support and like this show don’t want to hear your speciouss crap. If you don’t like the show watch something else and turn the channel losers.
Wow, so much hate for a show that probably no one has really watched. I am ecstatic about this news, the show is getting better with each week and hopefully they increase their viewership as the weeks go by. I’ve been pleasantly surprised how good the show is. The pilot wasn’t the greatest, but it was still good enough for me to give it a chance and I’m sure glad I did because it’s my favorite new show of the season.

I don’t love it, but I like the show, so I’m glad. I like the two leads a lot. Yes, I pretty much watched all of Smallville. They’re going to air Cult – I’m looking forward to that too. I watch Arrow, but keep waiting for it to be “wow.” The Vampire Diaries spoiled me I guess. It was so WOW!! for so long. Now, I hate Elana Vampire so the show is still good, but…
The pilot was really boring but i still gave it another try then i found i am already enjoying it and looking forward to seeing the next episode.. YOU BETTER WATCH IT PEOPLE!
After a long while a show actually made a week wait really hard for me, all thnx to the intense team up of Jay and Kristin! and lately i adore J.T aswell!
it sure deserves even a second season, the writers are weak in keeping it gathered and focused, but the main story is driving heart, the last episode was although better scriptwise, so iäm hopefull on them getting better and better with time! thnx to CW for giving it a chance, weak writers or not, its probably the only ‘refreshing’ show out there.
As for arrow, they have good writers, the couple is still a fail to me, unlike BatB where they grabbed my attention at first sight, but i like the Diggle and oliver team up which made me actually watch the show to start with, but the writers need some refreshment, its getting kinda solid and constant already.
Jay Ryan is better than the material, he could be a future star.
Ok I’ll be honest when I saw the trailer I thought: “really? They couldn’t think of anything better?” So I ignored it, last night I got bored and decided to give it a shot… I’ve watched all 5 episodes non stop! It is seriously amazing… And every episode it’s getting better! Do any of you remember how vampire diaries started out? It was so so al first and now it’s unbelievably amazing! Seriously! This show is a must watch!
The pilot was only so so, but I gave it a chance and it’s getting pretty darn good. Vincent isn’t a big cat here but a govt experiment gone wrong and they’re slowly building up the mythology and romance. Hopefully it’ll grow its ratings.
Beauty and the Beast has international appeal.. I’m sure CW realizes TV stations overseas are not going to buy the show if it’s only 13 episodes. Jay is from NZ and was an actor in Australia in Neighbours which had a huge following in the UK, so there’s a market in UK as well as Europe. Kristin also has a large following from overseas countries from her Smallville days. Even if the show isn’t high on tv ratings in the US it has potentially good markets overseas.
I love the show the CW never ceases to amaze me. I mean Buffy smallville Roswell vampire diaries arrow and beauty and the beast and supernatural all great shows

Beauty and the beast is a lot better than Arrow. I just can’ty seem to find Arrow too interesting. I hope it gets better.
My husband & I watch Arrow which is good. He has watched some beauty & the beast, but this is MY new show. They never claimed to want to copy the original series and I know some people are upset with that. I love it and I’m glad they are giving it a try. How many critics didn’t love Seinfeld or Cheers off the bat? You have to give shows a longer chance to develop. I am hooked. The chemistry between Catherine & Vincent is so beautiful. You really can see it in their eyes. I think it is getting better with each episode. “Moonlight” created by Ron Koslow got cancelled in 2008 after only 16 episodes and look at how hot the vampire shows are now! Keep this show going. Please.
Come on people! This show is AMAZING. It’s not the usual girl-meets-boy kind of thing. There are a lot of twists and it gets pretty exciting each episode! Catherine and Vincent really look good together! Looking forward to more romantic scenes! I’m hooked on this show. I really really really love it! So give it a try and you might find yourself drooling over Vincent Keller as well!

I wasn’t sure about it when I seen the pilot episode but decided to give it a chance past the first episode and i’m glad I did because Beauty and the Beast is really good and I think their going in a good direction with the show. It’s definitely something that’s keeping me on the edge of my seat! I am definitely looking forward to seeing how the season pans out and what will become of the characters at the end of the season. If planned well this show definitely has potential in my opinion to go on to a second season.
