End Of Watch, which opened to No. 1 at the box office in September, will be back in theaters nationwide December 7 to give awards voters another crack at the LA cop drama written and directed by David Ayer. Distributor Open Road Films said guild members and awards organizations — the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, ACE, ADG, ASC, BAFTA, CAS, DGA, HFPA, MPEG, MPSE, PGA, SAG NOM COM, WGA. — can use their cards to get in free depending on individual theater policy. End Of Watch stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a tough LA cop and Michael Peña as his partner; Peña was just nominated for supporting male actor by the Spirit Awards, which also gave a nom to DP Roman Vasyanov. The pic was produced by Ayer’s Crave Films, John Lesher under his Le Grisbi Productions, and Nigel Sinclair and Matt Jackson of Exclusive Media, which also financed the film, in association with Emmett/Furla Films.

Re-releases NEVER work.
Tell that to Braveheart.
Loved this film’!!!
This film is a must see, if you haven’t seen it, go see it. If you have seen it, go see it again. I probably will.
Has a good chance to win Best Training Day.
I wish they gave ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ a re-release, its original was clouded by a tragedy, and it could definitely use the Awards-push. It was arguably one of the greatest films of 2012, it deserves a Best Picture nomination…hopefully the Academy will agree.
“Arguably” implies anyone would care to argue with you and really, for that or any Batman movie, why bother?
This movie was a pleasant surprise on all fronts…writing, Jake, suspense, and ending. Glad they are re-releasing it as a lot has happened since September. Heck, even I had forgotten about it and it was one of the few films I recommended that month.
Yes! There was a lot of resistance from the distributor to take it back out. “What’s in it for us to take the risk” mentality. Glad to see that smarter heads prevailed.
